Obsessive food stealing

Any advice? The show cocker twit has a regular worming programme and no health issues at all. The food stealing recently has become off the scale and resulted in him being shut back in the kitchen anytime any food is out as he cannot be trusted not to launch himself at the dining table. Dp shit him in the garden in the rain for 15 minutes today after he stole off the table again. This had no effect whatsoever.
Out of the house his behaviour is really good now and I'm proud of him every day now because his recall and general obedience is so good and he is so compliant.

If you find out the answer to this, let me know! One of my cockers has reached the age of eight and, despite high levels of intelligence and obedience in all other regards, remains a food thief and clearly considers any telling off worth enduring in order to satisfy his obsession.

Yes this - worth any punishment!!!

Yes, I have Italian Greyhound, lovely sweet obedient dog. Clearly thinks crime pays. Just can't give him the opportunity.

Another one with one of these who would love the answer.

Mine was starved as a puppy and is stuck in stealing mode!

He will actually take from your plate if you take your eye off the all Shock

Sorry no advice, I've failed miserably to train my dog not to steal food.
Last week he stole an egg from a closed carton on the counter top . Must've done it while my back was turned as I was in the kitchen the whole time. There had definitely been 2 eggs and now there was 1. Dog was lounging on sofa in next room as not allowed in kitchen while there's food around Hmm.
I eventually worked out he must have sneaked in when my back was turned. I looked in his mouth and the egg was there intact Shock, he'd been lying there looking innocent hiding an egg in his mouth. Probably waiting till he was able to go outside and eat it without being found out.
He let me take it out, still intact, I gave it a good wash and carried on cooking.

Mine had the last slices of ham off my worktop this morning. I had such a busy morning, remembered everything else but left the ham out after doing packed lunches and walked off to school blissfully unaware. Came home to find the wrapping on the floor and a skulking dog hiding in his crate. He could probably smell the fury and indignation radiating off me.

I never ever leave food out for this very reason. One of mine, not sure which, likes to lick the butter. I wondered why it was so smooth...

Mine has learnt how to open door handles so nowhere is safe in my house anymore unless the door opens towards you rather than away.

He nicked a chicken last week with this little trick lol.

The only thing i would do is turn your back on them when theyre naughty after a reprimand first, it works for me.
