Eric is treated as one of the family so will be getting a stocking, presents under the tree, nice food and treats too and of course he has an advent calendar Blush Are your dogs getting presents? Any recommendations for toys especially welcome.

Yes, they are getting a Nerf gun tennis ball thrower thing between them. They got early presents of christmas collars and new leads to tone with the collars as well

TrionicLettuce · 11/12/2016 20:33

Mine are getting a joint present of a flirt pole.

I'm quite tempted to get them this hideous thing as well Grin

7SunshineSeven7 · 11/12/2016 20:34

Mine get a roast dinner (the left overs) as their present Xmas Grin

Violetcharlotte · 11/12/2016 20:40

Absolutely. He's one of the family. Big bought it yet though. I also treat him to a pre Xmas trip to the groomers so he's all smart for the big day Smile

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 11/12/2016 20:41

Yes.
We all get a present each, dog included.

Wolfiefan · 11/12/2016 20:44

Ours is only a puppy. She came with a Christmas card and stocking from the breeder. We have bought her a new chewy toy. Plus have the most beautiful collar and lead set on order. (She's a sighthound!)

Hoppinggreen · 11/12/2016 20:47

He's got a stocking that he's taking to the dog sitters with him, there are 2 toys in it as well as treats
He is also taking a pack of rawhide reindeers to share with his friends.
(Going to in laws and can't take him sadly )

BestIsWest · 11/12/2016 20:49

Excuse my ignorance- what's a flirt pole?

BestDog is getting a squeaky fox toy, dried fish treats and a new ball on a rope (his favourite thing).

cosytoaster · 11/12/2016 20:53

Of course he is (not sure what yet though), ddog will also be getting his cousin (sister's ddog) a prezzie, and vice versa Grin

TrionicLettuce · 11/12/2016 20:54

This is a flirt pole, in fact that's the one I've got for them. They're awesome training tools plus great for giving highly prey driven dogs a safe and satisfying outlet.

CheeseAtFourpence · 11/12/2016 20:59

Yes - he is counting down with his advent calendar. A new collar, squeaky duck and treats so far. There wil probably be a last minute purchase from the shop at daycare.

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 11/12/2016 21:00

Yes, Lottie has an advent calendar, a stocking and is hoping that Santa Paws will bring her some new tennis balls, gourmet snacks a couple of squeaky toys and a new bed. She's got a few tins of Lily's kitchen for her festive dinners instead of her usual dried food, and we even took her to a dog grotto last weekend.

We don't have any children so we might possibly be over compensating

Noitsnotteatimeyet · 11/12/2016 21:26

Ddog always gets a present - he loves unwrapping them (so we can't leave presents under the tree any more Hmm)

dotdash · 11/12/2016 21:31

Dot dog gets a dog stocking and a new blanket every year. She enjoys dragging the blanket around the house, so by December it needs replacing!

clumsyduck · 11/12/2016 21:40

Of course! one of those dog treat stockings . wrapped up complete with label ! And she normally rips it open herself ( with a little help) Blush

roseteapot101 · 11/12/2016 21:43

I got my mother in law to be dachshund a pigs trotter he loved it so much he buried it in the garden then dug it up months later when it was really rancid lol

Unfortunately he has since past but this year they have a new puppy i was thinking he would love a pigs ear

insan1tyscartching · 11/12/2016 21:51

Oh it's good to read I'm not the only one buying for the dog. Eric's birthday is Christmas Eve so he gets one of his toys a day early for that and we stick a candle in a cake and sing to him too because he sings when it's our birthdays.I wrap Eric's toys because he finds unwrapping them really exciting and it makes us laugh.

I've always bought him a present and sometimes my sister will. He's an awkward sod as he doesn't like most treats, has no interest in balls or any chew/rubbery toys, but he does love teddy bear/soft type dog toys.

This is our second Christmas with DP though, and the 'in laws' absolutely adore him. Last year they got him some treats, this year they bought him an advent calendar, and MIL has made him a stocking full of treats. They buy him presents every week it seems, and are forever offering to 'babysit'. FIL often calls round to take him out, and has taken him to 'see the lights' as well as 'Christmas window shopping' along the local high street. They get up to all sorts it's hilarious. I'm half dreading and half hoping this is an indication of how they'll be if we do have a human baby as well as a doggy one!

Abecedario · 11/12/2016 21:54

Oh yes and I always wrap them because he likes unwrapping and I find it super cute. He's never very interested in the new toy until it's been around a while and got super smelly though, last year's reindeer has only just become a favourite.

AmIBeingUnseasonal · 11/12/2016 21:58

My dog loves toys and loves shredding paper, it's his first christmas so it will be fun for him I hope. I dare say his stocking is fuller than everyone else's Blush

Bubble2bubble · 11/12/2016 22:16

Some new bandanas
A box of fish skin chews. A lot of turkey as I don't eat it but mainly buy it for them rather than DH

mimiasovitch · 12/12/2016 22:23

MimiPup is getting a new Richard. She had the small one in the car when we picked her up. As she's significantly bigger now, she needs Richard II, who is for big, nearly grown up pups. I do like the look of that flirt pole too.

luckylambchop · 13/12/2016 10:25

mimiasovitch, my dog has one of those, I had no idea his name was Richard. He loves it!

My dog is having his first Christmas with us and will be getting some posh treats and a stuffed octopus. The cat, who has never had a Christmas present before, will be getting some kind of Token Gift given mainly through guilt that we never thought to buy her a present before the dog came along.

On a related note - does anyone buy their kids presents from the pets? This is something I carried on from my childhood and was a subject of much hilarity amongst my friends, that my goldfish and rabbit used to buy me christmas presents.Grin

AndShesGone · 13/12/2016 10:27

Yes, the only Christmas 'decoration' in this house is the dogs stocking. And she will be getting some wrapped squeaky toys too ( she loves and murders squeakers)

mimiasovitch · 13/12/2016 13:31

Lucky - my daughter named him. We find it hilarious. This is clearly very tragic of us. Mind you, I have a Christmas gnome in the car called Grant, so there is no hope for me.
