Tibetan Terrier

I've been looking into Tibetan terriers thanks to another thread on here. Wow they're cute! Are they the "Pippin" dog from the childrens tv programme?!
Can anyone with a bit more knowledge give me some pros and cons to this breed? From googling it says they can be nervous around people that aren't family? Does that make them snappy though? Are they a particularly barky breed? It says they're good with children which is the main thing really.

Pippin was a cross breed - Tibetan terrier X bearded collie , so larger than a pure Tibetan terrier . The only Tibetan I know is very good with children but is unpredictable with other dogs , she's not at all noisy though .

A relative has three. They are lovely dogs. But they are quiet noisy and not great with other dogs.

They are ok with visitors and other people when out being walked. They do react to other dogs quite a bit. Barking etc.

One of hers did go for my dog once. If we are visiting with our dog, they all have to supervised closely. And on walks they have be kept on lead a lot. She has trained them and they have excellent recall, so she does let them off if she can see far around then and there are no other dogs.

However, I don't know if this is down to the breed or the individual dogs.

They do take quite a bit of grooming as well.

I researched breeds a lot and rescue dogs and we settled on bringing up a puppy and chose a Tibetan Terrier. I currently have a 19 week old girl who we adore and who is settling in really well, she is gentle, obedient and very easy to please and lovable.

I really think alongside breed traits natureV nurture plays a massive aspect of any dog. Our girl came from a family home with dogs and children and was socialised and handled from an early age. We collected her at 11 weeks and continued that socialisation. She comes everywhere with us, school runs, 1 walk a day and has many dog friends now in the park. She does not 'go' for anyone or thing or dog, they are not an aggressive breed and in fact are not in the 'terrier' group of dogs even with the name.
Our pup loves to greet and play with other dogs and in fact we have met many an aloof breed towards her not the other way round. She also does not bark aggressively and any barking in garden she is brought straight in as barking is definitely something I don't want. She tends to bark at something she's unsure of, that's the only time she's vocal. She's still a baby though and we are training all the time.
We wanted a non shedding dog and we brush her daily to get her used to it. Similar to all non shedding dogs they needs trimmed!

We love her!
