Hi just wondering if they made a good family pet, though it would be me spending all the time with her during the day, they are a breed I e always liked but weren't sure if they were more a one person dog?

I wouldn't recommend you set out to look for a Peke, as I strongly disapprove of breeding for that conformation. They were fashionable in the 80s, not currently, and although I'm a vet, I don't see too many for that reason. However, I did have a young Peke bitch to stay with us for 3 months recently and she was amazing. She had a very exaggerated flat face but gradually became very fit and coped extremely well, walking and running daily on a farm alongside my red setter. We are in South Africa so it's hot. While we always walk the dogs in the coolest part of the day, it is still a hot country and she always seemed fine. She was cheerful, friendly and actively sought out children to play with. She also played very well with our cat.
She was hard to keep clean, and needed a full on bath and blow dry very often. Once her wait for rabies test results was up, she went to Germany and we still miss her.

I wish they weren't so exaggerated in conformation as they are great characters, and that one, certainly, would have been a terrific family dog.

They need very frequent shampooing. Then them smell like glorious powder puffs.

What about a powderpuff Chinese creasted? The hairy version of the hairless breed
