Best food for Labrador pup (and into adulthood)

We collect our much wanted and sure-to-be-loved-more-than-the-kids ;-) Labrador pup next week. The breeder will send her with a small bag of what she's been weaned on but we'd like to feed her the best we can afford going forward. Can anyone recommend a good dry product?

Thanks.

MsAdorabelle yup, Royal Canin and Hills both sold in vets - doesn't mean it's any good though. Unfortunately the very fact vets sell them is enough to make some people think they are good.
In reality vets get paid to display them and/or commission for selling them. And vets get very little training on canine nutrition (for example, mine has "no problem" with Bakers Hmm)

RC is made by Mars, Hills by Colgate-Palmolive - which to me tells you a lot!

My vets also sell Royal Canin. Tellingly, when I first took my dog there, she got a welcome pack, which included a lead branded with both the vet's and Royal Canin's logos.

I'd recommend Millie's Wolfheart and also Simpsons. The pricing is reasonable, the food good quality, a variety of flavours with both, and the customer service and delivery from both excellent.

I second/third the recommendation to read the all about dog food website as well.

Both our dogs are on Skinners Salmon and Rice and in great condition, poos are very tidy. It was recommended to me as being similar to Burns but a lot cheaper. They had horrible orangey wet poos on Bakers and similar low meat content foods

Oh yes, SecretSpy, a friend's dog is fed cheap supermarket food and his poos are toxic - orange/khaki-coloured slop that stinks and is impossible to pick up. They look like a splat of korma. They leave streaks across the pavement when you try and pick them up. He needs his bum wiping every single time he has a poo so it doesn't dry and stick in his fur.

My dog, however, is fed on Millie's Wolfheart and Simpsons, and she has lovely firm mahogany poos that don't smell and don't leave smears on the pavement Halo

Mine has been on Arden Grange since a puppy and does really well on it. We tried her on James wellbeloved at one point and it didn't agree with her at all.
