What going on! Mini (lighthearted) rant !

My dog seems to prefer DH over me, he does love me but is always much more excited to see DH than me, he is more obedient with DH and although he is pretty obedient with me he is more half hearted about it. (Eg when he sits for DH he will do it with a waggy tail and a doggie grin, with me he just sits )

Ok I am aware I am being RIDICULOUS but here are the reasons ddog should prefer me:

• I walk him more
• I only do positive training with him (DH tells him off more than I would)
• I spend most time with him
• I feed him most

Ok DH gives the best doggie tickles but surely food and walks count for something

Same here. I went and broke DD3 out of the pound, housetrained him, took him to puppy classes, I feed him,walk him and adore him 365 days a year but he loves DH to distraction.

Dh did once take him out for a kebab though, which seemed to be the start of the love affair...

My dog (12 months old) is waaaaay more affectionate with everyone else than me, including random strangers . I console myself with the thought that he's most secure with me, so doesn't feel that he has to make as much effort .

Same here! I try not to take it personally that despite doing 95% of the dog care I get 5% of the love!

He comes to me when he feels poorly, does that mean he feels most safe around me but I'm obviously not as much fun as DH

Probably, Mine comes to me for comfort when scared but prefers to play with DH.

It's just like with children!

Well if your husband is the one who tells the dog off, it probably means the dog views him as pack leader. That makes you his friend instead, which is much nicer

DH may be there for the fun times OP but when it comes to the serious stuff: feeling ill, needing comfort or feeding your dog knows that he can trust you implicitly and that's what counts.

My dog always greets strangers as if they're all her long lost brother or sister and when she see my older DDs her tail wags so much I'm often afraid she's going to wag it right off; I rarely get greeted like that, but I know/hope it's just because she wants to be everyone's friend rather than her seeing them as a long term commitment, as it were.

Once when my DD's DP tried to take her for a walk with their dog - she doesn't know DP very well but knows their dog well - she refused to leave me and go with him.

I was a bit embarrassed that my dog wouldn't leave me but at the same time it's nice to know she loves me, or at least want's to know where the food person is at all times.

So true PigsDOfly he does tend to come to me when he is scared, and if a stranger is around he sticks closest to me. Maybe it's a more secure type of love
