Wellies

Can anyone recommend a pair of wellies that lasts more than a year without leaking? Had old hunters which were fab but new hunters are rubbish now I hear.

Got joules ones a year ago but they're now leaking.

Every review of every brand I see, suggests none of them last.

I'm thinking about aigle or muckboots but not sure about MB being either too warm for all year if go for Arctic, or rubbish tread if go for hale. Some reviews said these didn't last either.

I'm about to walk dog in rain and will resort to poly bag inside boots until get new ones!

£25 for Le Chameau? Blimey. That's a bargain!

I have to say, I really hope my Hunters don't split because they are really comfy. They came today and I've tried them out and they're really soft and supple and lovely. Fingers crossed.

I wear Lowa hiking boots, well they are para boots really, but sooo much more comfy than wellies and very waterproof. Ok I can't wade through streams in them, but puddles and slush have been no problem yet. I do have a very comfy pair of wellies I got about 8 years ago now from Cornish Farmers store, was doing festivals that year and it rained pretty much non stop, and got wellie welts from previous ones so invested in those which are neoprine lined and still going strong, but for long walks I much prefer my Lowa boots. Still not cheap at £125, but look as good as new, ultra comfy and use for search and rescue uniform boots as well, so getting loads of wear from them

Le Chameau here too - the neoprene lined ones with the zips. (men's 42, because I have chunky calves.) They still look like new even with daily wading through fields of mud, and my feet are always toasty. Not cheap, but in pay per wear terms, they're down to pennies.

Well the cheapo dunlops have been OK for last week but really not that comfy. Today my bargain men's le chameau came. They're fabulous!

£25 size 6. Bit big but perfect with thermal socks I also bought.

Happy dry feet. Yay!

They've gone up to nearly double price now too!

I went for Aigle when i had to replace Hunters (only lasted 1 year) - bought from Amazon marketplace as seller was offering free returns. So very comfy on sole, calf not as slim as hunters (but not flappy). Altogether very happy with them - have had them 2 years and they are still going strong. (Note i do keep them indoors though and rinse off the mud every so often).

Trade stands at horse shows are by a mile the best place to get quality brands at very good prices. I got Dublin Pinnacle boots and Le Chameau wellies for about one third of the RRP. Both going strong four years on after serious abuse wear.

I have aigle. They are great - neoprene lined so super warm and supportive and really comfy for long walks. They were £165 so v pricey but completely worth it.

Well I sent the Hunters back. I only had them on for two hours and I was glad to get them off. They got really snug after a while and given their reputation for splitting I thought I might as well return them.

I found a wide fitting pair from a company called Jileon. Really comfy and thick neoprene lining so you don't need extra socks. Seem alright so far.

I've had two pairs of these in 4ish year's. Bought as I got sick of forking out silly money for things that kept breaking. Have withstood the test of many dog walks, trips to the stables, riding, cycling etc and the wonderful north east weather.

Madblondedog · 13/01/2016 15:33

My hunters have died today, is it acceptable to have country boots even though I do not do anything horse related?

anxious123 · 13/01/2016 18:07

Madblondedog yup... lots of my doggy friends have them mostly on the recommendation of horsey friends :)

Madblondedog · 13/01/2016 18:53

Excellent, didn't want to look silly but they look so much more comfortable than wellies!

anxious123 · 13/01/2016 19:10

They are :) and offer more protection from daft dogs that don't quite know we're their feet at lol

Madblondedog · 13/01/2016 21:04

Ah I have one of those. His brakes also don't work so well Smile

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 13/01/2016 22:32

I've actually got a lovely pair of leather wellies but I keep breaking the zip on one of them so don't wear them much, unfortunately. They're really comfy and warm though.
