Wainwrights or Burns?

Hi,

I'm looking for some advice on what is best to feed our 9 month old Staffy/lab X - he's currently on Wainwrights but his trainer said Burns would be best as both breeds can be prone to sensitive skin. Went to buy some in Pets at Home and a member of staff told us to stick with Wainwrights as it's a higher quality food but I suppose that's to be expected as it's a PaH brand!

He's been on Wainwrights since he was 8 weeks and generally been fine with it although a couple of flavours can give him an upset tummy, so I'm not 100% convinced it's the best for him. At the same time though I don't really want to switch unless it's to a quality food he can be on for the long run.

So, Wainwrights, Burns, or something totally different?

If he is fine on his dog food dont switch it! Stick to the flacour that suits him. All those brands are nearly identical anyway, just kennel ration - meat powder and flake.
Skin problems are most often caused by fleas and maize.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!

If he's doing fine on the Wainwrights I wouldn't bother swapping him onto something else just for the sake of it, especially if he's a little prone to having a sensitive stomach.

I agree with previous posters. My girl is very prone to stomach upsets and hot spots that she bites until she's bald. I've tried numerous foods and spent a fortune in the process, but the one I've found suits her best is Autarky - £13.79 a sack from Costco. It's not the best in the world, but it's got a pretty good write up on allaboutdogfood and it suits her, and my pocket, really well, so we're sticking with it.
