Really need advice on finding emergency care for dog owner may be admitted to hospital today

Hi my friend is having a psychiatric assessment at 4 today and may be admitted to stay. She has asked me to look into temporary care for her dog (4 year old Weimeraner). She mentioned something about temporary RSPCA care? I work all day and live in a block where pets are not allowed so am unable to help out. There is no one else that she can ask. She is central London based.
Any advice would be gratefully received. I'm having the day from hell at work as well so unfortunately don't have much time at the moment to research and ring around but if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great

I'm just posting to say that I think that MeEverything is right about the nhs paying if someone is sectioned.

But this solution is heart melting

Aww what a lovely thread:

Gorgeous girl.

DorynownotFloundering · 28/11/2015 09:09

OP, I do hope your friend is getting the help she needs, Willow being safe will help relieve one area of anxiety at least.

Well done MN again!!

Thingstodotoday · 28/11/2015 09:37

Thanks Dory. She's under the care of the crisis team now so fingers crossed. I just spoke to her this morning and she was really pleased about how settled Willow seems.
She really is the most beautiful dog. I was out with them both once when Bill Nighy stopped to admire her!

Oh wow!

TotalConfucius · 28/11/2015 18:14

What a lovely story!
Very glad that Willow is enjoying her 'holiday', and Midlife this will be good for you too. I'm sad to hear about your Springer but sometimes having a gap between dogs is the worst thing to do - it allows the 'what ifs' to build up. Willow has ensured that won't happen!
Right place, right time for both of you.

MidLifeCrisis007 · 28/11/2015 23:02

Wise words Confucious! Willow is the best thing that could have happened to me this week - I feel blessed to have had cuddle time with her because she's such a sweet heart! She has made me laugh lots too... not least when she presented DH with a loo roll this morning!

It's been great to share piccies with her owner on Twitter too. I hope it's given her the reassurance that she's having a nice holiday in SW London and getting lots of play time in the park!

MidLifeCrisis007 · 21/12/2015 20:16

By way of an update, Willow was reunited with her owner today just in time for Christmas! It's a minor miracle there wasn't a little puddle on our hall floor as Willow was beside herself with excitement when we opened the door and she saw her mummy after a month apart.

We have absolutely adored having her. She is such a loving and fun dog. The owner kept saying thank you to me for having her and I couldn't help pointing out that it was her who had done me the favour! It's been an absolute joy.
