Making on lead walks more interesting

Ddog tore a muscle in his shoulder a few days ago and is restricted to on-lead walks for another week or so

We're both finding it a bit boring ... I've been practising heel work and giving him extra sniffing time. Any other suggestions to make on lead walks a bit less dull?

If there is somewhere quiet and clean on your route you could sprinkle some VERY finely chopped yummy bits of chicken or mince or other moist food over a grassy area, so he has to use his nose to find and hoover them all up. www.dog-games.co.uk/behaviour/sprinkles/

I get bored shitless on walks here, the path is flat and straight and time drags. I like a place where there are a range of surfaces and stuff, and so does my dog! Sand, grass, heather, boggy bits, pebbles, bloody rabbits to watch and sniff after, gross stuff washed up on the beach, lots of dog peemails. I agree with hiding some treats, and listen to an audio book! It's been a revelation for me, keeps me entertained and the earphones mean I can pretend I can't hear random men trying to talk at me.

Thanks - we did sprinkles in the garden in the summer and he loved it but the common is such a mud bath now I'm not sure it would work

Sadly far too much dog and human traffic where we walk to listen to an audiobook- Ddog is v well-behaved but that's because I don't give him a chance not to be .. He's naturally c lively ...
