Can anyone recommend dog insurance. We need to insure our 5mth old black labrador.

DH has been looking but says all the cover is terrible.

Pet plan life time cover with a minimum of £7k a year. Yes you will pay more but you get what you pay for. They don't hike your premium up if you claim and most vets will accept direct claims with them.

Petplan 2yr old lab £32/month. Claimed twice and no problems

Just be sure to get lifetime cover. That was a lesson we learned the hard way!

We are on day 3 of dog ownership and our breeder recommended petplan or kennel club, we currently have both on a trial that came with the dog. I think that we are going to go with petplan, as of all the quotes we've had that came out cheapest, for a covered for life policy.

Miniature poodle 3.5 years. £7k lifetime currently paying £44 a month with Petplan and just claimed nearly three grand back after extensive testing. No hassle.

We have John Lewis Pet Insurance with £7k lifetime cover for medium size 2.5year old entire male dog. Costs £45 a month. During the first year we made 3 claims, one for specialist orthopaedic surgery, totalling in excess of £5k. The insurance paid out very promptly on each occasion with no problem.
Could not have asked for better service...

Another one recommending Pet Plan lifetime cover.

Pet Plan are one of the few insurance companies that cover teeth.

Have just had my first dealing with John Lewis since insuring my pup with them (premier cover). It went something like this:
'Yes, Mrs D, go ahead and find a behaviourist. We will cover it. Yes, your choice of behaviourist will do. Good luck with it - and anything else we can help with?'
An absolute pleasure to deal with. No wonder they're no. 1 in Which?
