Nasty fireworks

Anyone else got an unhappy pooch tonight? Max is literally glued to me, not enjoying the loud flashy bangs outside. He's an affectionate boy anyway but he's needing lots of love tonight, poor little man.

Noodle wouldn't stop barking at them. Fortunately, after half an hour of non stop barking, DS came downstairs and Noodle jumped straight onto his lap and fell asleep! There's not been a peep out of him since.

Wish I had DS' magic touch. Shame I have to send him to bed now...

Poor noodle! Max has just disgraced himself by doing a huge pee indoors. So not like him so he wasn't told off. Luckily it all seems quiet outside now. Loli hasn't woken up all night!!

Mine hates the fireworks. She is currently trying to hide away

11 year old border terrier here barking, pacing and growling. First time it's bothered him, so bit odd. Stopped now. Stressful evening!

Spoke too soon. ?? what twats think it's OK to still set them off 10pm on school night. Dogs barking all over. Twats!!! Sorry need to rant.

Yup my boy is ok with ones further away but someone two doors away letting them of at 9.30 loud enough that my window rattles dog is barking like crazy

One went off here in the early hours. Really???? Anyway we settled him back and he's his normal happy self today

We had one neighbour letting off a gun shot sounding firework which seemed right by the front door. This is what terrifies my little dog who literally climbs the wall

She makes no sound just paces round the room panting with ears back.
We,ve had this since last week.
Luckily we do have pauses.

My dog has just started to stress but has been a lot better this year [no panting and pacing around etc]. So now I'm worried that's she's starting to go deaf . #i'malwaysworriedaboutsomething

hate hate hate them. My 2 are fine thankfully, but I used to have a dog who tried to climb into me, into the tv, into the couch, even after sedation, I used to put cotton wool in his ears. One year when Nov 5th landed on a Saturday it was horrendous and I wrote to the Prime Minister at around 9pm, so high was my rage I actually wanted to go outside and start stabbing people.

Poor max didn't enjoy tonight's fireworks. DH had to accompany him out to the garden just now for a wee (the dog that is) as max was too scared to go on his own. Hopefully they've all finished now. And still Loli sleeps through.

I took ddog out at 6pm before it all got going properly. At that time of day we'd normally see loads of dogs but it was very eerie as we were the only ones out

I didn't know how she would be because she only came to us 2 months ago, but she seems ok with them. Ever so slightly more following me around, but pretty chilled.

I used to have a border collie who was absolutely terrified and it was a real ordeal for him - but that was 30 years ago when it wasn't a month long festival - I really feel for the poor doggies who can't help being stressed - and their owners it just goes on for so long!

P.s I did wonder if she was deaf - honestly - but then I remembered that she can hear the word ' walkies ' muttered from outer space.

Ddog looks very happy! Normal service has resumed in our house this morning. Max nagging for his morning walk and Loli is still sleeping.

Mine was too scared to do a wee in the garden last night so we left it until this morning. She was still suspicious and didn't want to but after several "do wee-wee for choco droppie" from me, she did a quick one and rushed back inside.

Apart from the gun shot sounding ones she does seem better - after a week of nightly doses of desensitising traumas. [sigh]
Instead of trying to climb the walls, she sat and stared at them in a trance.

I've always had dogs and max wasn't bothered last year but I don't know whether the fireworks 'season' has extended or the bangs get louder but he is definitely more bothered this year, and I was talking to some people in asda yesterday who were saying the same. Loli however is completely unmoved by the whole thing!

Took her out in the garden before it all kicked off again but she refused to do anything so had to take her out for a short walk when did a couple.

Since they kicked off again tonight she has been amazingly chilled and is sleeping stretched out on the floor under the table near my feet.

i love love love them and kids up and down the country are absolutely thrilled to bits and think they're awesome. We have a lot around us that do their own families and friends fireworks every year and we all get very into the spirit of it and have a lot of fun.

These people are not 'idiots' because they let off fireworks and want to enjoy bonfire/firework night with their friends and family. Its a great excuse for a social gathering outside at this time of the year.

Terrible to hear of all the suffering thats going on for some of the ddogs out there and the distress to ddogs owners as a result too .

Why are there just soooo many nervous ddogs? or is it disproporational representation on here? I see it out though too. so many are scared of other ddogs and people. Have there always been this many nervous ddogs? or is it getting worse?

Shriek its always been like this for a certain number of dogs. In 1990 i was visiting the vet for sedatives for mine and I wasnt alone.
What bothers me is the fear that wild animals in the parks must feel, deer, badgers, foxes. They must be terrified snd not know whats going in.
I dont mind fireworks, just think they should be silent.
