Dog newly diagnosed with epilepsy so want to avoid grain and Rosemary in diet. Any food recommendations ?

My 3 year old pooch has had a number of episodes and been diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy after extensive testing.
Ever since we had him as a pup he's been on Naturesdiet and when that became unreliable (the packages would often blow) we switched him to Forthglade.
I've now discovered that Rosemary is not recommended for dogs with epilepsy. Unfortunately as it is a natural preservative it is in both of those products.
I'd be really grateful if you could recommended grain free and Rosemary free foods to me - ideally wet food but open to dried too.
We haven't got the space for bulk buying frozen and full time raw feeding does not suit him although he does get a mix up.
I'm slowly going through products but thought there'd be knowledge here.

My dog has Millies Wolfheart, there's lots of different ones but the ones she's had don't contain Rosemary. They have just introduced a wet food to their range, it's a little pricey but dog loves it and there's no grain, chicken, rice, chicken or eggs in their food.

Thanks for the pointer Kinky I'll check it out.

Orijen do a freeze dried raw which is like a dry raw food which may be an option? Also in freeze dried is Raw k9, and Pure is a freeze dried "soup".
I believe canagen do a wet food too, as does barking heads but i'm not sure their range in wet is grain free - they do a kibble that is.
Burns wet is another option, applaws do the little tins of meat, natures menu do wet and frozen options

I'm heading out but I can have a proper brain wrack later on if you need more ideas :)

Freeze dried raw sounds very interesting I hadn't heard of that.I'll start working my way through the list Pucky.

Orijen six fish diet, great products, super quality and dog loves it.

Or you could think about raw feeding?

Silverstreaks · 05/11/2015 20:49

Raw food for a day is alright but it ends up being food for the magpies if fed more often. It's a pity because we're happy to do it.

I'd love to raw feed but my lab who eats anything and everything just wouldn't eat it - I did buy the pre-packed stuff though, she does eat raw chicken and beef if I chuck a bit at her when cooking. Chicken wing complete with bones gets dragged around or buried somewhere like in the sofa - it was fun finding that after a week.

A friend gets their dogs food from tails.com, and is really pleased with their service.

They can customise the food for your dog.

They currently have an offer where you can get 50% off a two week trial

Tails.com is an interesting site.

I was just going to recommend tails.com!

Pure got back to me and they have 0.03% Rosemary extract in their food, a tiny amount I know, but I'd like to avoid it altogether.

watching with interest as our 2 year old is currently undergoing tests for epilepsy. She is fed Lilys kitchen and just checked no grain or rosemary in the ingredients.

I've ordered Eden Holistic. One meaty fishy and the other Game and lamb. It's a high protein food 80 20 with potato as the starch and no Rosemary or Sage.
He's used to a wet food diet so will be interesting to see if he takes to it.

My back up is going to be Millie's Wolfheart I think.
