I'm suprised he wasn't shot. Probably the 50th post I've put about him. I'm at my wits end.

Poor dog getting pts for sheep chasing. You could have rehomed via a rescue who would have made sure it went to someone who didn't live anywhere near sheep and knew what it was capable of.

Hmm

LibidinousSwine · 28/10/2015 08:56

whothefuck do you know many rescues that could easily give up kennel space for a convicted sheep chaser (most likely sheep killer had I not intervened)? One that doesn't have a waiting list of dogs without such a background?
As it happens I did speak to the rescue he came from and was given very sound advice.

Retraining was out of the question (this was pre internet so advice was not as readily available) His insurance immediately revoked all third party liability cover and I knew I couldn't subject a dog who competed at agility and walked miles daily to a life on a lead for potentially another 10 years. It's not as if he would even have understood it was a consequence of his actions.

Anyway I look on it as having had him PTS. Had it happened again he would have been destroyed which, in my eyes at least, is a very real difference.

I dunno to be honest how easy it is to get a sheep chaser in a rescue but I know I did see one in a local rescue recently. On all his blurb it said any prospective owners must be aware of this. I guess to someone like myself where there's no sheep in a 50 mile radius it wouldn't be a problem. I know my dog would chase sheep given half a chance, so when we're on holiday in Wales, etc she's on a lead. Back home she can be off lead.

Anyway I'm sorry, I shouldn't have commented. I'm sure you did all you could.
