Just that. She is great with everything else. Happy, healthy (at last after a few probs), eats well, drinks well, 90% of the way there toilet-training wise. But when we go to bed at 11ish and put her to bed too, she howls like mad. She did this at about 9 or so weeks, for a week. Then settled down. Now the last three nights she has gone nuts at bedtime and just wanted to run around until she was exhausted. But that's at about 3.30am Sad
we are shattered. She has a cosy bed, blanket and teddy in her crate in our room. Nothing has changed. Why the sudden hate of her crate/sleep/bedtime? We are wrecked. Any advice? TIA.

Mine took to about 18 weeks to sleep through the night

Things I found help was if he woke keeping things very calm so out for a wee but on a lead so he knew not playtime .Sat by his bed just quiet in the dark sometimes just putting my hand in easier as he slept by me

It does get better now at 10 months he often flops out about 8pm

Hi there. Another sleepless night here. DH at his wits end.

Where does your dog sleep? With you? Downstairs? Thanks for your reply x

I dont know what you do but we made sure we played with our pup quite a bit to tire him about for about an hour before we wanted to go to bed and then the puppy would be trying to go to sleep in the livingroom and we would take him out for his last toilet trip then he went to sleep in his crate (after he got over the fact that he thought he hated it - around 10 weeks)

Also he sleeps in a crate in the dining room

I have a 14 week old lab and we ended up taking her crate downstairs for the same reason a couple of weeks ago. 5 minutes crying for 3 nights and now she sleeps nicely. I think as she knew we were in same room, she wanted to play. I'm by no means an expert but this worked for us.

We were really lucky with our lab, we crate trained her from day one, had a bit of a cry the first night but I slept on the floor next to her crate in the kitchen. Second night, nothing.

Do you have anything in the crate with him? We put a ticking clock just outside the crate (in case of chewing), put a couple of jumpers in with her (mine and DPs) and also a massive teddy which is still her favourite. She now drags most of her teddies in their and sleeps in the middle of them.

As PP have said, try and tire him out during the day, take him out for a last wee before you go to bed, bit of a cuddle and put him in the crate with lights out.

Our girl now puts herself to bed at around ten most nights and we shut the door when we go up

We only had this for the first three or four nights but we put a sofa by the crate and I slept downstairs beside him. When I was able to sneak off unnoticed we moved the sofa back and he was fine. It's soul destroying I know but you'll get there.
