RAW/BARF?

Does anyone feed a RAW diet? We had a sample of natures instinct and our two did well on in but it works out rather expensive, looking at doing it myself but really struggling to get my head round keeping in balanced (not helped by a chronic condition that makes me foggy at the best of times!!)

Can anyway post a sample menu of say a week or so? Any other tips would be fab!!

Hi. We raw feed our gsd and have done since he was a puppy, he's now 5 yrs and in great condition. It is over whelming at first. Our dog has a mixture of bones, mince, fish, eggs. Bones and mince from different animals. I would highly recommend a book from a lady called Ann ridyard called the dogs dinner. She also has a shop of the same name in the Wirral and if often happy to give advice over the phone. We bought our dog from her and we live very close by, would 100% recommend giving Her a Google or a call for a starting menu.

I feed my two raw and have just started venturing into the realms of DIY, Rawfeeding Rebels have a very useful website and Facebook page that I use for support and guidance.

We have just transitioned to raw for our 17 week old pup. He absolutely loves it! We have decided to do it ourselves and found 2 really useful websites.

Have a read and work out what's easiest for you and best for your dog. Xx

We feed ziwipeak. Basically air dried raw meat.

this is a good website.

The ratios are important but you need to think of it over a week/10 day period rather than trying to provide the perfect balance every day, IYSWIM.

Go by the poos! Too white/crumbly = too much bone, too dark/loose = too much organ (liver/heart etc). Poop size much reduced too which is a bonus.

Tripe is super healthy, you can get big frozen bags of it in Pets@Home, add eggs every now and again, sardines, stuff like that. I loved doing it with my foster dogs and they loved it too. Ask around any local butchers, seek out bargains at supermarkets. FB group Raw Feeding UK has a comprehensive list of suppliers which is useful.
