So last week I went to the vets to get all the pets wormed treatment, laughed at how my girl is never poorly and hasn't been to the vet since she was spayed ( she's now 7 years old ), so now she's poorly Sad.

She didn't eat her breakfast this morning, she does this from time to time and can just be because she's fed up with the food or she can't be bothered to move off the sofa, she rushed outside early to go for a poo, sniffed her dinner and went back to her bed, didn't think much of it. Just took her for a walk and there was blood in her poor and her poo was quite soft ( usually very hard ). I had noticed that she had lost a bit of weight, she's quite lazy and eats a reasonable amount of food so no real reason for the weight loss. I didn't think that the weight loss was a problem until now, now I. Really worried, she has also been licking her paws a lot lately.

Any ideas what it might be?

She's booked into the vets for later this afternoon but would love some clue to what it might be? If it's anything serious?

Vast majority of soft poo and blood in poo is dietary indiscretion (eating stupid stuff), there are lots of other causes, but this is the cause of around 90% of the cases we see.

Thank you lonecat, she doesn't tend to eat things other than her food ( and her own poop), I don't usually give her bones or anything that could splinter but I guess she might have got hold of something, I expect this from my other dog who eats absolutely everything Grin. She hasn't moved off the sofa since her walk but she's quite lazy so not really a clear indication that she's poorly.

I hope all is well. Do let us know. Hugs to you both.

Vets not quite sure what's wrong, has given her antibiotics ( her temp was a bit high but probably due to getting stressed and then excited ) and some probiotic paste to settle her tummy. I have to take her back in on Friday to see if she needs further tests and to check her weight. She's just eaten a bowl of chicken with her medicine hidden in it Smile so fingers crossed no more blood in her poo.
