Oh he's so sad!! ??

Forgot to ask vets about poos, will he get all bunged up like we do after pain killers? He just seems really unsettled. I was expecting him to just sleep but he's crying lots and just very fidgety.

Last qu, he's not touched his wound so I haven't put the cone if shame on him as I don't want to add to his distress. Thinking I'll need to for bedtime but has anyone not bothered. I just don't want to do anything unnecessary as he's obviously really quite sad.

At this stage he is probably still feeling the effects of the drugs so isnt trying to get at the wound. After a day my dog was trying everything to get at the incision. After two days he finally did it even with the cone on. We had to go back to the vet for a larger cone and to have the incision treated for infection. Id keep the cone on when he isnt in your company even if he is not showing signs of trying to get at it.

I found it a very stressful time. Best of luck and remember in 10 days time it will be a distant memory!!

God, this feels so heartbreaking. To voluntarily inflict this on him!

He's started licking so out cone on. Even bloody sadder if that's possible? He seems to be fighting sleep?

Our usually fairly chilled boy is really struggling. He's not allowed upstairs and I suspect one of us will be on the sofa with him down here tonight.

My lab didn't poo for a couple of days after being neutered but didn't cause any problems for him.
I know how you're feeling, mine was the same, really pathetic the day after the op. I felt so guilty. He didn't sleep or relax, just stood in the middle of the room for hours whimpering and looking bewildered. Didn't need to wear a cone as no stitches, wound had been glued and dog didn't go near it.

Definitely use cone when unsupervised - doesn't take much to trash stitches. Will probably be feeling rubbish post anaesthetic as is normal.

I think mine pooed the next day and didn't seem to have any discomfort doing so. He also really didn't seem to mind the cone, definitely after the first couple of days I don't think he noticed it. I got quite bruised calves when he bounded around with it on though! I think because the cone looks so awful we assume it's awful for them to wear but they are pretty adaptable and definitely better than bust stitches.

Instead of cone, use a snug fitting vest or t-shirt, much more comfortable than the cone!!
