I am covered in mud from two bouncy jumping up specimens this morning.

Not a word of apology from either owner (they were walking together)

My dogs don't jump up. Ddog1 would given half the chance if he can smell treats, but is put in a stern sit. I know he does this so I grab him, or move or avoid or whatever.

We taught Eric to dance (so up on back legs) which essentially was giving him a name for what he was doing. He was rewarded for getting down when we asked. Now he never jumps up without the prompt "dance" or if dd prompts him with a backward shimmy (he'll obey her signals which he doesn't for me)

I had almost completely trained my working cocker not to jump up, and he still doesn't to me, but I have started exercising him in a place where lots of well meaning owners give out treats, and he started to bother people. So, we are back to basics for now, and telling people to turn their backs and step away until he sits - I don't care if they think I'm weird or rude. Oh and then this morning, I caught DH fussing him when he jumped up - it's not the dog who needs training!

I have a 4mth lab and are working on his jumping up. He's already so much better than when we got him 3 weeks ago!

At home if he jumps up we turn our back to him. He hates that you don't want to play so has learnt to sit before he gets attention.
Walking is harder as people dont do the same. On the lead he's pretty good but off lead he can forget himself and be jumpy. People say they don't mind but I will always correct him.

Yeah, had this yesterday, Chihuahua type dog in a park starts jumping up my legs - it was big for a Chihuahua so probably crossed with something else - no apology for the fact that I was now covered in mud.

I do wonder why someone would think that repeating a dog's name over and over while chasing it round in circles is a good way to get it to stop jumping up, but obviously the woman walking this dog did.
