Cleaning / disinfecting dog wee - what to use?

We've been the offered use of a small crate for a while if we end up getting our pup but I will need to clean thoroughly. It has been cleaned with dettol but is there any way of getting rid of any traces of smells from the previous dog? Also for general cleaning up of accidents of which there will be many!

Simple solution- pets at home sell it

Biological washing powder made into a paste scrubbed in and rinsed out.

A second vote for bio washing powder, when DDog was a puppy we kept a solution made up in a spray bottle ready for accidents.

Bio powder sounds like a cheap solution Smile. Does it deter them from weeing in the same place again? I don't remember that many accidents from my old dog, but maybe that's the rose tinted specs and the passage of time!

I'm feeling quite excited at the prospect of a new arrival but also a bit Shock. I'm thinking it will be like when your firstborn arrives and you're left alone staring at each other thinking 'what have we done'Grin

The bio solution seemed to stop our pup from weeing in the same place again, something to do with neutralising enzymes? We didn't have all that many accidents either, there was just one awful rainy day when she did one pee after another, despite putting her out loads. In the end we just fell about laughing as it was like a comedy sketch - it was that or cry!

Our pup is now 18 months old and I can clearly remember the 'what have we done' moments, but she is gorgeous and I can't imagine life without her. Enjoy, and remind yourself 'it's only a phase' (especially useful for the biting/chewing stage) Grin
