Are the RSPCA any good?

I have concerns over a dog being mistreated, if I report the owners anonymously will the RSPCA act on my concerns and take action? Or any other organisation I could report this too?
I feel so sorry for this poor dog and it's playing on my mind Sad

The RSPCA isn't exactly a perfect organisation, but for cases of cruelty to animals I'd have thought they were the appropriate people to call.

I've just started a thread about calling the RSPCA - sorry I didn't see yours first OP or I'd have posted it her instead.

I know what you mean. Some of their work has been tainted by their ability to prosecute. But yes, they are an important organisation, and yes they are able to help. We picked up a hen pheasant on the road and brought her home. I called the vet who wasn't helpful re. life things for a common wild bird, but suggested I call RSPCA. Amazingly someone came to the house and prescribed life, and the little bird flew away about 10 days later.

The RSPCA don't care about the dog my neighbour has. The one that is kept in the conservatory 24/7. The one that's never walked. Along with their other 4 dogs. The one that tried to get through the window when it was baking hot. The one who cries when its freezing in the winter. It's being fed, so the RSPCA don't give one.
