'Dog cave' beds for bigger dogs

Does anyone know if you can get 'dog cave' beds for bigger dogs?
I've seen plenty for toy and small dogs, but none that would fit a lab.

My girl loves being covered. If I'm on the sofa with a blanket, she will crawl underneath it and she loves being under the duvet on the bed
I've tried a fleece on her bed, and she loves being covered with it, but hasn't worked out how to get underneath it herself (which means I end up tucking her in before bed Blush )

She is far too big for her puppy crate, and a new crate would take up too much room in the kitchen

Something like this would be ideal but Google says they don't make them big enough for her.

Failing that, one of those play tunnel attachments that IKEA make for toddler beds, but for a dog bed Grin

Yes yes we also have a dog that needs tucking in with a fleece blanket and always goes under the duvet if allowed on the bed. Mind you, would be a sizeable piece of furniture!

Pet planet do nice snuggle cushions that have a fleece top that the dog can crawl under ,it zips around 3 sides and they are large , our dog worked out how to crawl in quite easily . They are very nicely padded and cheap !

never knew they were called pet caves Shock
I have a lurcher who will lie sprawled out during daylight hours but persists in attempting to submerge himself overnight
I already have a dog bed with a 'lean-on' padded border and on top of this I put a straight flat oblong bed - which he attempts to lie 'under'
why are there no 'pet caves' for larger dogs - if anyone knows how to compromise on this without spending a fortune I would love to know
I keep telling him he is an irresponsible dog who needs to at least make his own bed in the morning Grin

Lucy, Mollie,
If I was remotely crafty, I would try to rustle up either an elasticated cover to fit over a hard plastic bed, or some sort of pram-hood type thing.
She is very particular about making her bed and will spend 5 mins moving her blankets around with her front paws before she will settle down and be tucked in so I'm trying to decide if she would still want to be able to do that, or if she wants a snuggler cushion she can crawl into.

And then I realise that I'm overthinking this, especially as she is from working lines and all her littermates are living in outdoor kennels with wood shavings, and I therefore probably shouldn't be pandering to her lasyship's preference for feather duvets... Grin

sparechange - ours does that too. At least 5 mins of turning round and round rearranging the blanket until it's in the right position, then one of us has to put another over the top so it's all cosy.

Tuffie tunnel cover?

WeAllHaveWings · 06/09/2015 14:59

Or Tuffie Nest Sock?

TrionicLettuce · 06/09/2015 15:00

I was just about to suggest the Tuffie cover but WeAllHaveWings beat me to it.

There's also the Charley Chau snuggle beds but not sure if they'll quite go big enough for a lab.

sparechange · 06/09/2015 16:17

Thanks Tri and Weallhave
The Charlie Chau ones are beautiful and would look so much nicer than our current dog beds! Will investigate the sizes and see if she could squeeze herself in.
Failing that, the Tuffie tunnel looks fab
Thanks both, sparedog will raise a thankful paw this winter!

not sure the large will fit the lurcher/greyhound breed
Large - approx. 100x80cm - a good size for Whippets, Working Cocker Spaniels, Standard Dachshunds, small Lurchers & Hungarian Vizslas.
they should sell an XL or XXL but suspect they would be a tad pricey.

jgm · 06/09/2015 19:27

Our whippet has a cozy cave in size large, I've seen two whippets sharing a large. They also do XL which is huge!

jgm I've just ordered a Cosy Cave
The lady that runs it seems lovely and it looks very good value.
I'll report back on her Ladyship's opinion of it...

She is indeed lovely sparechange, we live close by so we collected our cosy cave in person and also got to meet her two lovely whippets. I'm sure your girl will love her cave :-)

sparechange · 10/09/2015 09:34

My cosy cave has arrived...
I went for the XL on the advice of the seller and it is hooooge. Too big, really, so I think I'll have to work out if I can take it in a bit.
But sparedog seems to like it. She was a bit wary at first but had a little burrow and then popped her head out the front looking very pleased with herself. Success!
