New puppy in new house- where dog lived

I'm moving house soon

I planned to get a new puppy
Just realised the owners actually have a dog.
All trace of dog was carefully hidden on first viewing!

Will I have to wait until my puppy has his jabs for him to go outside in our garden?
Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Ask them if their dog is up to date on its vaccinations because you'll be getting a puppy.

Tbh , even if it's not the chances of that one dog harbouring anything is pretty slim.

Just had another thought, what about the foxes, we have one that lives close and always jumps over our fence and poos occasionally

Beachday, Parvo is not common in foxes and because the disease would need foxes to spend a lot of time together - a dense population - the risk of the fox that comes into your garden carrying the disease is very very slim due to foxes being quite solitary as adults. You could remove the fox poo as you become aware of it and once the fox spots your new dog, he may well decide not to return. If you don't let your puppy in the garden then you can't toilet train him and his socialisation will be stunted. It's such a low risk for a fox to infect your dog but if in doubt- ask your local vet if they are aware of any Parvo outbreaks in your local area and mention your fox concern. I wouldn't let it deter me personally. Hope this helps. Smile
