New dog

We recently was driving home and on a whim went into the dog pound. We had no interest in a pet but one thing led to another and low and behold we drove home with a dog that melted my (I would like to say both but it's a stretch!) heart.

My DH bonus was timely and it was gone in a jiffy on a kennel and accessories around the home. It completed me if I'm honest. But only one factor bothered me, our new boys doggy stomach isn't too good.

I'm sparing the details but needless to say I've took him to the vet three times and paid for expensive medication and a modified diet as per the vets introductions to the book. Still it persists and its becoming a real problem between me and my DH.

It sound petty but I'm at my wits end and have been given an indirect ultimatum of either the dog goes or I.

Surely there's a solution to this? Has anyone else ever had this problem and please if so recommend some tablets or treatment I can use to sort out the apple of my eye. It would be a shame to cast him away as we have a real bond.

Thanks.

I have friends that have a jack Russell, it has a very dodgy tummy, they have had it since a puppy , but it was taken from its mum before it was 6 weeks old ( they basically rescued it ) , they think this is probably why it has tummy issues.
They have however found one commercial food that it can tolerate and for the most part it is managed . No runs.... However it does still have episodes but they are few and far between.
So hang in there, find a vet who will work with you to work out what it is, if it can be cured (say has one of the nasty tummy bugs in its system) or it is a matter of management. There is lots you can do.

I've already been to the supermarket this morning and picked up enough chicken and rice to last for three months. It drew some funny looks on check out let me tell you!

The anxiety possibly could be true. We've not had a happy household for recent times and while I try and lock him in the garage (dog not DH) when things erupt I do think he senses it. My DH also plays loud rock music of night which I sense is to annoy me but surely Treacle hears it too. A rift of Lez Zeppelin at 1am on a Wednesday morning can't be good for many creatures on this planet I'd assume.

Not normal and vet should now do further tests. Stool sample basic and should have been done already. Change vets if no joy. (I am a vet). Commonest causes in puppies - change of diet, infectious disease. Changing to bland diet good idea but not long term and esp not for a puppy. Try for now and go back to vet, if necessary a different practice.
