Dog whisperers....

I know they get bad rap, but what about the good ones? I have been trained by many trainers (all bone fide and well qualified in my opinion). It turns out that some of them are called dog whisperers.

Who's calling them dog whisperers?? Confused. It's a completely made-up term, usually self-styled to give themselves an air of mystery- and to give the impression that only 'special' people can be good trainers

Real dog trainers don't need to whisper and they know how to listen.

No trained professional would use the term Dog Whisperer. So they would all have dubious training methods.

I have just googled for interest and all of the ones that I have found in the UK talk about pack theory or the balanced training approach which all use aversive training techniques. I have come across several in my line of work and I would avoid all of them and would never let my dogs anywhere near them.

The Balanced Approach looks well dodgy. Prong collars, shock treatment... I haven't worked with a trainer who refers to themself as a whisperer, but they have been referred by others as whisperers. I don't like the term. To me it conjours up all sort of kind of witchcraft and magic.
