Does anyone have one?

One of ddog's friends is a Welsh springer- he's lovely but took a while to calm down - he has a tendency to get a sniff of a scent and disappear into the bushes

He's quite big - much heavier set than an English springer - his coat is a gorgeous colour

We had one growing up. She was lovely. Typical spaniel really - very friendly and loads of energy.

(Caveat - I wasn't the one that had to train her - it's always easy to look at childhood dogs with rose tinted spectacles!)

I have one, I love him dearly, he's gorgeous. Lovely temperament, gentle, curious, good with other animals and children. The supermodel of the springer spaniel world, taller, elegant. Only come in red and white, silky, long fur.

Harder to train than an English Springer Spaniel, but allegedly calmer. Reserve judgement on that.

We've put a deposit down on a puppy. Beyond excited. I don't My think I've ever seen one in Scotland. My sister has an ESS and she is definitely wired to the moon but an absolutely fantastic dog. Very loyal and patient with the kids.

we have a wss, he's an amazing dog, love him to bits. There's a group on Facebook for owners and lovers of wss where we post photos and videos, it's a great place for advice too.

I had one in my teens, and I have one now. Everyone loves him, and he loves everyone. He's a counter surfer and a bin raider, but very, very affectionate.

Can we have photos please?

basildonbond · 26/04/2015 13:27

how lovely :) post a picture as soon as you get him!

I have one, lived in "kennels" - actually a revolting puppy farm - until rescued by us at 18months had had so no socialization, v little handling. Had never been in a car, or a house for that matter! He's obviously been mistreated by a man as he was v nervous of DH, more so when he wore his work bootsHmm

12 months later you would not know him for the same dog. He has responded very well to clicker training as he was too frightened to take treats out of my hand at first. He is an absolute family dog, wonderful with 2yo DD, getting friendlier and better adjusted all the time and just devoted to me, which was wearing at first but calming down now. Responds exceptionally well to praise and love. He's also stunningly gorgeous to look at and fairly low maintenance for a coated breed. He's my first WSS but won't be my last. xxx

Tropical, you can never have just one Welshie!

FairyBiker · 26/04/2015 18:10

it does seem like that shadow Smile

Once you've got a welshie you house will be fuller of love, who doesn't love a welshie hug?

you're house will also be full of dirt! I thought the self cleaning coat was amazing at first, then noticed how much dustier my house was Hmm

We do agility training once a week which he loves.

Any news, Cherry?

cherryademania · 18/05/2015 16:18

Hi, yeah I'm going down to visit at end of this week. Puppies are just over 4 weeks now. I'm a bit nervous. We've to go for a 2 hr visit. I guess if we aren't right they'll say we can't have one and refund our deposit. 2 hrs is a long time for my 2 year old at a strangers house so I'm a tad worried. Also do you think it would be reasonable to ask if they would take pup to get first vaccinations at 8 weeks? We are not able to pick her/him up until 10 weeks. I'm just aware I would obviously like 2nd set done at 10 weeks so we can be out and about by week 11 getting on with puppy socialising etc. If we wait until we pick pup up it would be 13 weeks but also we would be housebound with the 3 kids for half the summer holidays (we are in Scotland).

It'd be best to check first if they do the same brand of vaccs in your area as in the breeder's area. I had a dog from rescue who had had first set of vaccs. Vet where I live said he would have to start again because it was a different brand [hmmm] And it's a lot of chemicals to be going into such a little animal if for no good iyswim?

cherryademania · 18/05/2015 22:05

Will phone vet in the morning to discuss. See what they say.
