Just wondering who raw feeds on here? And where your from.

We raw feed our adults on 80-10-10 but sometimes they get whole prey.

We have a local company who deliver most of our food but also have a farm/butchers near by we get our whole prey from along with bags of bones/feet etc

I do!
I'm from bucks, my dog gets a mix of bony meat, organs and whole prey in the form of game like whole pigeons, ducks, rabbits etc.

AliceAnneB · 12/04/2015 22:30

We do. I get it with our regular ocado order from laverstock. We get bones from the local butcher.

DragonsCanHop · 12/04/2015 22:34

We did.

Essex.

Not got Ddog now Sad

We bought from the butcher, morrisons, a local garden centre and online from local suppliers.

I miss making up her weekly food not the liver cake though

Mominatrix · 12/04/2015 22:42

I do.

Order complete mixes from Nutriment, and also DIY with whole pieces of meat (including bone) and some offal.

We also get bones for free from our burnt her, along with free off cuts.

Mominatrix · 12/04/2015 22:43

Stupid auto correct - butcher not burnt her!

Chattymummyhere · 13/04/2015 09:24

I have too say morrisons are good for getting emergency offal and bone if running low

We do. Do a mixture of homemade (80 10 10) and premade stuff. Our dog adores it and looks fabulous on it.

Viewofthehills · 13/04/2015 22:17

I do- Ddog was getting ear infections, and eczema on kibble. Changed to raw and they cleared up. She also stopped smelling of dog and the poos are small, less smelly and easy to clean up.
Swapped back recently for a short time as I injured my leg and I was struggling to prepare the raw and all the problems came back within a few weeks. So I highly recommend it.

marmaladegranny · 13/04/2015 22:25

Another one who uses the complete mixes from Nutriment - DDog came from his breeder on it and as he does so well on it I haven't changed it. He sometimes gets a bone, a raw chicken wings or a bit from the butcher as a treat. The only processed or cooked meat he has is when we bring him home a 'doggy bag' from a pub meal!

Mitzi50 · 13/04/2015 22:32

I use Landywoods or Raw2Go online

My border terrier has skin complaints and has had several ear infections - much like Viewofthehills. A raw diet has been suggested to me before, but I don't really know where to begin!

Any tips gratefully received. How much do I give her? (She weighs 10kg). What is 80 10 10? Can she really have raw chicken bones Shock?

I am a complete novice so would really appreciate a few pointers. Thank you in anticipation.

A really good group on FB is "raw feeding UK" Loads of info and help on there.

80/10/10 refers to meat/bone/offal. You are aiming for those %s over a week/month. Easiest way to know is by looking at their poos! Too white and crumbly means too much bone, too dark/loose means too much offal.

Raw chicken wings, carcasses, sardines, tripe, eggs. Usually start off with chicken for a week or so, so no tummy upsets and then start to mix other things in. Start wih v small amounts of offal. Tripe is v healthy!

fivefoottwowitheyesofblue · 13/04/2015 23:02

Bagel Thank you - I don't 'do' FB but have looked now looked at Raw2Go online. Thanks for the explanation about the poos - R2G eluded to it but your explanation is much better!

I will def do more research into it as it seems it could help her.

Thanks again.

You need to work out that she needs between 2% - 3% of her ideal body weight daily.

So between 200grams - 300grams of food per day.

You then split that down into 80% meat 10% bone 10% offal

Some people give offal everyday others work it out so that other a week or month the dog gets the correct amount, we give daily.

Chicken bones are fine faw it's the cooking of them which makes them dangerous, a lot of dogs really enjoy chicken feet too.

Also a word of warning green tripe is brilliant for dogs. Not so nice for the human with a sence of smell. Watch out for some premades as I've seen a lot of people having issues with the containing too much bone or being filled out with veg.

The raw feeding site on the Facebook page links to: dogsdinner2.webs.com ( sorry don't know how to link on I pad)
All the same info is on there; the QuickStart guide is a good place to start.
In addition Thornit's ear powder is great for heading off ear infections. Costs a few pounds and has definitely saved me at least 2 vet trips.

view and chatty - many thanks
