What has your dog done recently that makes you feel proud?

Eric can be a little pest but at the same time he picks up little tricks in no time so he's very entertaining. He also has the annoying habit of sometimes choosing to ignore some of the basic commands when he'll reliably perform his tricks to order every time.
So I've been working on his recall and drop it pretty hard lately because it's a PITA when he ignores those and feel pretty proud that in the last week he has been faultless even when really preoccupied chasing his friends and even when I have had to retrieve high value (to him) stuff from him.
So hope I'm not tempting fate by posting but I think the dog's got it Grin

My ddog escaped from my sisters house after stupid BIL left front door open, and legged it down the street I shouted stop and called him and he came running back and jumped into my arms it was the first time his recall worked I was so proud of him for listening.

Yesterday he was surrounded by offlead dogs (stupid woman who takes her dogs to the toilet in a school right beside the gate to the field that everyone else walks in) he didn't react until one growled at him first.

Oh, also he let a cyclist go past without comment.

Pip has recently, finally, started not even bothering to lift his head when I go upstairs or outside without him. It's only taken nearly two years! Shock Grin

Lurcherboy has also finally accepted that there's no point fighting it, Pip is going to cuddle him at every given opportunity whether he likes it or not, so he may as well just give in and enjoy it. They're both snuggled up together on the big bed as I type. Smile

Punterlab played with an 8 month old choc lab in the woods today, well he was ambushed, jumped on, slathered on and generally pulled about. Harassed owner with whistle finally arrived, apologised and put his on lead. My yellow lab (2.5) waited patiently and then trotted off with me. Owner said 'I wish I could train my lab so well'. I smiled and said something comforting. Punterlab was EXACTLY like that until about 6 months ago.

I took my hyper 8 month old pup to a public park with joggers and kids and other dogs yesterday and she didn't even try to jump on anyone/any dog. She even sat nicely while we stopped for coffee at the cafe! She walked nicely on the long line, climbed on logs with DS, greeted dogs calmly, chased a stick for a while without jumping up at me and there was only one short episode of lead biting which was quickly solved with a bit of stick throwing distraction. Such an improvement and I'm so proud of her

TheHoundsBitch · 29/03/2015 14:19

Oh and DS has been poorly so she's spent the last couple of days snuggling up to him at every opportunity and trying to share her bone with him! Grin

On Thursday ddog took part in a school assembly with more than 400 primary school children there and was an absolute star

And this morning his recall was faultless, coming back immediately as soon as he heard the whistle despite all the distractions in the woods

While he is a giant PITA around DP and I when playing with us and loves to wrestle etc, with DD (16mo) he is as gentle as anything and will wait politely next to her to throw a ball for him. He is a big dog but always manages not to hit her or kick her while squirming about the sofa.

Then he steals one of her toys and I'm not quite as proud of him again. But he is ridiculously handsome and it gets him out of a lot [softtouch]

Our boy was on the deck yesterday when he spied something walking through the garden. He made to take off after it and I told him to wait. He immediately plonked his (very wriggly, he is after all a boxer) bottom down on the deck and waited, and Mrs Pheasant was able to complete her wander through the garden and under the fence unmolested. Only a small thing but a big thing.

Our very naughty pup knows the command "Stop!" and obeys every time. You can shout "Stop" and she will drop into a sit and wait until released every single time we do it with her, came in very useful when she decided to chase a deer the other day.

JoffreyBaratheon · 29/03/2015 20:52

7 month old pup has only this past week decided she might do most of her wees in the garden. We tried everything, and stuck with all the received wisdom - no joy. Suddenly the penny has dropped (when she spends a penny). Still getting the odd accident, but nowhere near as bad.

Also, she is a lot calmer already. Very cuddly and loving. I thought she'd never get to the stage of sitting still long enough for anyone to cuddle her.

We went out yesterday on a long walk with all three dogs. DDog3 has only just been released from her seclusion after a series of strange seasons and finally being spayed. It's been before Christmas since they've been able to run all together and they were very good. Excellent recall, not roaming too far and if you ignore DDog3's infernal yapping when chasing in general a joy to take out :)

We then went to a cafe where they say beautifully by the log burner and allowed us to drink our drinks in peace. Admittedly we did pop them in the car when the food arrived as it seemed to be tempting fate otherwise, but Operation All Behaving Ourselves At The Same Time seems to be coming along nicely

Mine has learned to roll and to ring a bell to get treats.

On a smaller scale, she was pretty damn good when we were doing all kinds of training today.
