How many types of dog walking shoes do you own?

We have just got a foster dog and I really need to rethink my footwear! I bought some cheapy walking boots but I think I'm going to take them back because they are not very comfortable and I've only worn them around the house, why are walking boots so stiff? I have lots of trainers, but they aren't very waterproof when walking in wet grass/mud/in the rain, so I do need something waterproof.
I need a new pair of wellies so i was wondering if I should just get a really good pair of wellies, I've heard Aigle are very comfortable/supportive, and just wear them all the time?

I can't afford a different pair of shoes for different weather/terrain but I feel like I need them! How many do you have, and what would you recommend?

I'm looking for new wellies are my Hunters bought last Christmas have fallen apart, the soles off both heels are worn away with holes in them and i have a hole at the front of one of them too, I payed over £80 for neoprene lined ones too they have been utter rubbish

SconessMcFloness · 17/03/2015 21:24

My Hunters leaked after 6 months of not very much wear - they look lovely but functionally they are a massive fail.

MyFeatheryHat · 17/03/2015 21:24

An obscene number Blush
Though in fairness, they are not specifically dog walking shoes, more "not at work" shoes

I too own a pair of Hunters from The Good Old Days. Sadly they have split across the bottoms (after about 12 years I should add) and now no amount of silicon is holding them together. I may have to light a sacrificial pyre to send them on their way this summer

I also have several pairs of boots, leather Hunters, North Face winter and North Face not so winter ones. Then a couple pairs of walking shoes, the best being from Hawkshead. Add in the trainers of the moment and you have a fairly accurate representation of my shoe cupboard :o

Waterproof calf length fur lined Merrels for winter (toasty warm), Karrimore walking boots (don't like them, they were reduced and are too big, I should have left them on the shelf), Hunter wellies (leaked after 2 months, must bin them) and Caterpillar biker boots for summer.

My Hunters were from that Devon Farmers place in 1998 and are going strongly. I treated them to crocs butter treatment and they look great. So comfy but wouldn't buy modern hunters, saving for Aigles

MyFeatheryHat · 18/03/2015 08:54

crocs butter treatment sounds like one of those MN Do Not Google things :o

Hunters for when it's wet and old river island ugg style boots for dry

I have Muck boots which are fantastic year round. I can comfortably walk 7 or 8 miles in them, they don't leak
and keep my feet warm. Great in the snow too.

  1. Aigle Wellies 10 years old and still perfect.
  2. Joules Wellibobs for less muddy days
  3. Sketchers trainers (old)
  4. Keane Venice all terrain sandals for hot days.

Dog is quite old and doesn't want to go that far, so 2 x 40 minute walks max.

I have hotter boots, not sure which style but they are taupe equestrian style.

They are so gorgeous but I do not recommend them.

After less than 6 months of wear they are already showing signs of damage.
I thought they were made in Britain, turns out India. That be why...

Bloody expensive aswell.
