Indestructible toys

Do they actually exist? Pup is 6 months old and is costing me a fortune. Nothing we have bought has lasted more than 30 mins before it's a pile of chewed up rubber, fluff, wood, whatever. Nothing lasts, I even bought him a doggy puzzle thinking if he was using his brain the toy might last, it didn't. He worked it out, got the treats then ate the toy.

Problem is if he's toyless then he finds his alternative ones, my cushions, DH's wallet and every bank card he owned in it, tea towels, DD's ipad case, etc etc.

He is getting plenty of exercise and has all his adult teeth according to the vet. He just needs the seemingly impossible. A toy that he can't destroy and won't cause the subsequent rainbow poos all over my garden.

Thank you in advance

That've you tried Kong. www.kongcompany.com/en-uk/products/for-dogs/rubber-toys/ They are pretty indestructible.

Tuffy toys! My jrt was the same at that age, everything got trashed in seconds! I found tuffys are the only ones that weren't immediately shredded and disemboweled, they're quite expensive, but he's 3 now and still has his tuffys from when he was little:)

No, nothing is indestructable...any of the toys that say they're tough ( like tuffy and other similar brands ) last a little bit longer though.

Usually with mine it's a few days rather than the ten minutes anything else takes to destroy.

Or the rubber kong toys, but he doesn't like those much, which is maybe one of the reasons they survive longer.

Thick rope toys are not too bad either.

My dog loves fallow deer antlers.
They are considerably softer than the stag bars and shouldnt splinter or snap into jagged pieces.

However, you need to know your dogs chewing habits well.
If he tries to crunch it he will likely fracture a tooth.

But if he's the sort of dog like mine that just really enjoys chewing and doesn't try to bear down and crunch he will probably love it, they last ages.

These ultra balls seem to be indestructable. Very bouncy as well so give dogs a good work out. My two can eat stag bars in a couple of days and other balls only last a few minutes before they're in bits but these last forever, even with lab chomping for hours. The only reason I have to buy more is because GSD tends to drop them down rabbit holes.

I have a heavy duty chewer. So far he loves Stag Bars and his Kong Wubba. When all else fails DH's old sock, stuffed with newspaper is one of his favourite things. Yes, he can destroy it but it doesn't really matter.

Another vote for kongs. Bustacubes are good too. Opt for the larger size so thato they can't get their teeth round it to chew.

LimeJellyHead · 26/03/2015 20:03

Another vote here for Chuckit Ultra Ball. They are fantastic. The reviews here say it all www.dfordog.co.uk/chuckit-ultra-dog-ball.html

My terrier Berkeley can destroy almost any toy in minutes. He has had his Ultra Ball for over 4 years (yes, 4 years lol) and it is still like new. There are no end holes you see, like on most standard balls... so nothing that can start to be ripped. And they are hollow, so not cumbersome like those horrible solid rubber balls.

Sainsbury's have some Seriously Strong dog toys, the knotted rope toy and the squeaky bone were both about £4 or £5 and have lasted aaaages. And normally she destroys stuff within minutes.

Other than a kong, Nothing lasted more the a day or two until our lab was around 18 months and stopped chewing.

We tried a stag bar,but it ended up with sharp bits which cut ddogs mouth and left blood on the carpet.

Lovelydiscusfish · 28/03/2015 18:47

I've bought a few heavy solid rubber toys from Wilkos (bones and hoops) - very cheap, and have lasted for years, although nothing else has.
