My dog was just attacked

She's fine, thank god. No thanks to the dickhead owner who ambled over as his staffy tried to pin my terrier who's only half the size of his dog. I really don't want to turn this into a staffy bashing thread as I know some lovely gentle staffys. I'm fuming at the irresponsibility of the owner who let his dog run out into the street, shouted over that it was ok and then wandered over with all the urgency of someone on their way to pick up the morning papers. No apology either unsurprisingly. It was only because I managed to get my legs between them that my dog is ok. I am boiling with fucking rage right now. Is the dog warden the next step?

sorry about your dog. been in your position and sorry to say neither the dog warden or the police will give two hoots. and my dog required vet treatment.

BabeRuthless · 14/02/2015 18:26

Ugh, that's what I thought. I think it ran out from his house as he had the door open and was talking to someone. He'll probably deny it ever happened. Sorry about your dog.

similar thing happened. this dog charged out its house. leapt over a gate across the road JUST to attack my dog. sadly this dog was also a staffy. the dozy mare owner said the dog had never been right since she let it have puppies. picked up the dog and waltsed off leaving me dealing with a bleeding dog

BabeRuthless · 14/02/2015 18:39

That's awful. Did the warden and police explain why they wouldn't do anything?

they both said it was the others responsibility and neither would talk to me!

We've only got one Dog Warden left to cover the entire county here, nevertheless it is part of his job to receive reports like yours and do something. If you don't report it, the Warden will DEFINITELY not do anything!

BabeRuthless · 14/02/2015 19:08

I will ring, just so feel like I've done something. It might not be the first time it's happened.

I'd definitely ring - as you say, it might not be the first time it's happened. And also it might prevent someone else from their dog being attacked :( Not nice - we have a lot of irresponsible dog owners who can't see the warning signs that their dog is about to launch itself onto one of mine. I wish we could police dog owners better!!

BabeRuthless · 16/02/2015 14:26

I've rung, but I'm not very hopeful of any action. I couldn't be 100% sure of the house number either. They said when they get to it they'll try and contact the owner but I reckon he'll deny it. There was no one else around apart from his mate (who no doubt will back up any version he gives) and there's no marks on my dog (thank god). I honestly think you need a licence to own a dog.

How frustrating :( yeh I totally agree. A dog licence is a good thing, but unfortunately there is no one to police it :(
