Hello everyone

Would like some advice, we are thinking of getting a puppy but unsure which breed? I have dd who is 3 and adores dogs my mil has one who she loves and the dog loves her she is a poodle crossed with a terrier.

We decided we would look into getting one we have a huge garden and have fields all around us so no worry about space.

My dh likes shitzus but he also would love a bull dog his wanted one since he was kid. But we would rather have a small breed?

Thanks

I love shelties also, however, like a pp said, all collie type breeds are sensitive dogs.
Poorly bred and/or poorly socialised or handled many can and do become nervy, sometimes snappy as a result.

Many a collie and sheltie owner who can only give the gentlest of corrections to their dog and has to refrain from raised voices because they crumble otherwise.

I adore shelties! They are my absolute favourite dog and I would own one right now if it weren't for DH's bloody allergies!

DOn't know much about it but wikipedia (fount of all knowledge Wink) says "the Sheltie, is a breed of herding dog. They are small to medium dogs".

It does sound as if you may have got your breeds confused natureplantar101.

I have a springer sheltie cross, she's adoring, needy, sensitive, clever, energy to burn, and BARKS.
Old girly was a springer dalmatian cross, and was a superstar. The best thing ever to have existed ever.
Personally I wouldn't have a pedigree of any type, and I don't like small breeds generally, so can't advise there. A pound near me has a never ending supply of 8 week old puppies-usually collie/hound/spaniel mixes, and then the depressing hoards of dogs under a year whose owners can't be arsed with the hard work. However, pound dogs, like puppies from a breeder, you don't know what you're getting temperament-wise, a rescue will have assessed dogs in different scenarios and are able to give you better advice.
