After much rumination (see multiple threads Blush) we have decided to go ahead an foster a greyhound with a view to joining the Failed Fosterers Club and keeping him in due course Grin

I've walking dogs for this particular charity for a few months, I grew up with a number of dogs, but have never owned one as an adult and don't have any sighthound experience (although I am learning).

The woman who will come for the home check tomorrow said to not prepare anything specifically (for instance, I am well aware that our indoor guinea pigs are currently not secure enough, nor is our garden) and that she wanted to see the house/garden as it was.
I have solutions in my head for all the problems I can foresee and have bought posh biscuits Grin

Any other tips?
Anything I should ask specifically or any questions I might need to anticipate?

I have my eye on a dog, but am not sure how long it might take to be approved.

Oh, I am totally smitten Blush

He is lovely and overall well behaved - some pacing and panting tonight but he showed me where he wanted his bed to be Grin and tolerated the kids, so all good.

So far we have had 2 big wees in the house and none outside in spite of taking him out every hour or so since we got him at 5pm Confused
DH is circling the house with him just now…

Thank you for your kind wishes - let's hope the night goes ok.

If you get a crate and he doesn't like it you can use it like we did as a dog (we have terriers) proof guinea pig run.

We have crates for both our rescue dogs and they both love them. They are fed in them to stop them pinching each other's food and the rule is that they are never, ever touched when in their crates so they always have a child-free retreat.

DDog2 hides in hers when I get the vacuum cleaner out too.

It also means that you can stop them chewing while you're out.

I hope you've got a Kong. Fill it with treats and something squishy (we use squeezy cheese) and freeze it to keep him occupied.

I've started a new thread

Kong arriving today Smile

Thank you for sharing your experience, Goldmandra - my plan was to get a crate today but he is so unhappy in the back of the car, I think I'll leave it just now until he is more settled.
