My Dog has started messing in house. Advice if possible please?

My dog is 3 years old and has been perfectly house trained since he was a few months old. A couple of weeks ago I started to smell dog wee in the house and realised that he has been cocking his leg up walls etc. ( he's a small dog so wasn't immediately obvious as his wee's are small ) I took him to the vets and he was diagnosed with a urine infection.

The accidents stopped for a week but 2 weeks ago I noticed patches again where he had cocked his leg. I have scrubbed the patches thoroughly incase he was scent marking again but it has made no difference. In the last 3 days he has now started messing on the lounge carpet overnight as well.

I'm starting to feel very frustrated as not sure why he is doing this now and my house is starting to smell. I could understand the accidents when he had an infection, and maybe also him rescenting where he had previously cocked his leg but why would he now start messing? This can't be down to the urine infection or scenting can it? It's almost as though he was never toilet trained and thinks he can just go wherever? Is this normal for a dog who was so perfectly house trained to regress to such an extenct after 3 years or could the messing also be linked to the infection?

Any advice would be really welcome!!

Maybe he thinks he's allowed to do it.
I think I'd also get him checked again to make sure there's no infection/illness.
Start at the basics of toilet training again - every hour outside and 'good boy' big fuss and praise when he goes.
Make sure he's fed early enough to need the toilet before bed.

I'm sure someone with knowledge will come along and advise.

What are you cleaning it up with? Some urine removers actually have ammonia in them and don't get rid of the smell. How utterly useless is that? Apparently washing powder is good.

Yes, use biological powder or a special dog cleaning product. Not any household cleaner. The infection may have set him back, so again, start from scratch!
