We have a 15 week old puppy who we've had since he was 9 weeks and are failing miserably at toilet training him. We will put him outside every 1 to 2 hours and he will sometimes go to the toilet which we give him lots of praise and a little puppy treat
BUT
He is still weeing and pooing everywhere indoors.. Has anyone got any advice please it's driving us crazy?

Take him out more often...as soon as he wakes up, after every meal, after every time he has a play session and about every 20 minutes that he's awake in between those things.

Loads of praise when he goes outside, ignore it and make sure you clean up with something that removes the smell if he goes inside (simple solution or bio clothes washing stuff).

Remember that he hasn't got a clue that he's supposed to go outside and not inside, so you just want to make going outside so rewarding that he starts to make an effort to do that.

I agree with Tabula - every 1-2 hrs isn't enough. After key moments as said above is the trick to cracking it.

And don't just put the puppy outside on his own. Make sure you're with him and able to praise/treat him just as soon as he does his stuff. He needs to make the connection that you are REALLY pleased about the outdoor seeing and pooing.

It will also help to restrict him to an area such as a single room whilst he's learning. Dogs naturally don't want to go in their 'home' so will be more likely to wait for the garden if they can't just wander into the next room and go there

We crate trained ours a little late. He was about 16 weeks when we finally resigned that he needed to be in the crate when we couldn't watch him, even though he hated it :( but it worked wonders! 1 year on he is fully trained and we have got rid of the crate.

Every 1-2 hours is absolutely nowhere near enough for a puppy so young. What's probably happened is that it has learnt this message - "I wee and poo indoors usually, which is every twenty minutes max because I am a puppy - and for every few indoors wees and poos they let me out to do a wee or poo which is when I get the treat".

The message it needs to learn is - wee and poo outside. Full stop.

For this to happen indoor accidents need to be prevented, and the only way to prevent is by taking him out every 15 minutes when he is not crated, and after every walk, sleep, nap, meal, excitement, play in addition to the every fifteen minutes.

I took ours our every 10 mins for two weeks, she was trained by the age of 12 weeks! They learn very fast which unfortunately also means that they learnt the wrong things very fast too.
