My poor little pup is having the OP tomorrow. I don't know how he knows but he is so sad and pathetic tonight. I have just put his food bowl in the dishwasher and he looked at me as if I had betrayed him. I have always had bitches before, will he be ok?

I have no idea, sorry. Never had a boy dog before. But all I can think of is
OUCH!
I am sure he'll be fine. Lots of treats might ease your conscience.
Good luck.

But I can't no food until the OP! He is just looking at me pathetically with his gorgeous brown eyes and giving my feet the odd lick!!!

He looked at you like that because you took his food bowl away. He has no concept of 'tomorrow' or anything bad happening. He is cross because his food bowl has gone. That is all. Grin

He'll be fine.

He'll be fine, more often than not they come home sleepy, are a bit zonked that day and more or less normal the next.

My dpup was alittle groggy when I picked him back up after his castration and slept for about six hours after I got him home then had a bit to eat and whet out to do his business them went back to sleep he was fine the next day and since he had no interest in licking his stitches at all he didn't need to wear the cone of shame.
I'm sure yours will be just fine and back to his normal self in no time.

I hope it goes well, OP. My puppy is being castrated on the 16th and I'm dreading the week of on lead walks!

He'll be fine. It's a much less major op for males than for females. He's likely to be woozy the first night and maybe a bit off-colour for the first 24 hours, but most are up and about and barely even notice after that. Some bounce back even quicker.

I had my lad done in November and he didn't even notice his stitches, let alone bother them. He slept a lot for the first day, although he's a lazy Lurcher anyway and that was that - all back to normal, albeit a bit fed up that he wasn't allowed any off-lead walks.

Completely understand your nerves - I was the same, but honestly, he was absolutely fine and you lad will be too.
