The zip has finally gone on my good old Timberlands.
I'd like long boots again and a zip (I can't be arsed to do lace ups twice a day).
Must be waterproof and hard wearing.
The currently Timberlands are either lace up or pull on and I'm not so keen.

Any ideas please? TIA

I like Merrells, although not sure what their current range is though, mine last so long I haven't needed to look recently.

Tipsykisses · 22/01/2015 15:36

I Love my tuffa suffolk , very hard wearing & comfy .

SinclairSpectrum · 22/01/2015 16:02

I like Sorels, very hard wearing and come in an excellent range of colours and lengths.

APlaiceInTheSun · 22/01/2015 16:06

I walk MILES in my Aigle wellies. The sole fell of my Timberland earthkeepers last year and I have not found a suitable replacement, so have just stuck to wellies.
I love them they are very comfy.

ghostinthecanvas · 22/01/2015 16:08

I was recommended muck boots. Warm, soft and comfortable. I don't regret buying them. They are wellies but really don't feel like wellies.

At the moment I'm in a pair of Dublin Country boots , they're really comfortable ,very flexible and lightweight yet still hard wearing and waterproof . I also recommend Aigle wellingtons .

mrslaughan · 22/01/2015 17:21

I have neoprene lined aigle wellies for really cold wet muddy weather and then hiking boots for other times.
I can't recommend the aigles warmly enough. The hiking boots are great as well - but they are lace up

DrElizabethPlimpton · 22/01/2015 17:24

Definitely go for a country boot. They are hard wearing and warmer than a welly.

Thank you all very much. I'm off to investigate all your suggestions.

I've been through three pairs of country boots and this year stuck to calf length Dunlop wellies. By far the easiest and best choice with thick socks!

TheHoundsBitch · 22/01/2015 21:33

I have Sebago dorset country boots, 79 quid atm on their website. They're fab, warm, grippy, waterproof and tall enough to not get wet legs tromping through the undergrowth after the ball your dog has abandoned (dpup hasn't got the hang of 'fetch' yet!).

mckenzie · 22/01/2015 22:18

I love the look of those HoundsBitch. I'm concerned they might be too tall for me and nip in to the back of my leg.
Ive found a pair in my size on Amazon though. I'm very tempted to go for it anyway.

The only caution I would give about country boots is the sort of country you walk across - I had a pair of dubarry's that I loved - but v expensive
They lasted a year and then sprung a leak in the gortex - which basically render them useless, as my foot gets wet, even with heavy dew. I would love to be able to say it was mud sucking at the sole that caused the leak, but I used my aigles in mud......I do miss them though......

Floralnomad · 23/01/2015 08:03

I wear my country boots in very muddy areas ,as well as the beach , they've been with me just over a year so far with no problems . If you do want country boots have a look at equestrian clearance as they do a nice selection .

basildonbond · 23/01/2015 08:18

I have a fab pair of Bogs wellies - they are neoprene-lined and very comfy to walk in (my foot doesn't slip around in them like some other wellies) - you don't need he faff of long socks as they are lovely and warm - I love them

TheHoundsBitch · 23/01/2015 16:02

I've got them in a 40 and I'm 5'8 with 33" inside leg and they are perfect on me, to give you an idea of the length. I imagine smaller sizes would be slightly shorter.

Fudgeface123 · 23/01/2015 16:47

I have Karrimor waterproof walking boots for non muddy walks and Hunter (comfiest I've tried) for muddy wet walks....I can walk miles in both.
