Need some advice if possible. Our 6 year old rescue Staffordshire bull terrier has developed an intermittent limp. We think she hurt her leg on our sofa a few months back saw a vet who examined her and prescribed some pain relief as she felt it was just a pulled muscle. Most days she is absolutely fine no limp can still jump up on to our sofa walk up the stairs etc but every now and again she will limp for a few steps normally quickly back to weight bearing. It seems to be worse in mornings and after long walks. We took her out this afternoon and now she is back to limping for the first steps Everytime she gets up. To be honest I'm not particularly impressed with our vet after our last visit so wondered if anybody had any idea of what we can do to relieve her pain for this evening whilst I research other vets in our area.

Don't give her anything tonight unless you have painkillers left from last time.

She needs to be examined again and probably xrays.

Our old boy hurt his leg last year. He limped for a bit. Took him to the vet who xrayed him and declared a dislocated shoulder. So easily fixable but it's possible apparently that once that muscle is damaged it's easier to pop it out again. Could it be something like that?

Hope she's ok. Smile

I mean he limped for a few hours so I took him straight down the next morning. Not like days or anything. Blush

Sounds like she needs an xray, with possible referral to orthopaedic vet. One of mine was diagnosed with arthritis and is now just on Yumove Advance. The other limper has had several ops and is on lots of painkillers. You say you're not impressed with your vet - at least he/she didn't refer you for expensive treatment immediately, so arguably that's a good thing. When our boy first went to vet it was pain relief and rest to start with, followed by xray after couple of weeks, then referral. Good luck!
