Rehoming advice please.

I have a lovely 18 month old springer x huntaway. She is a loving dog.

Unfortunately in March my partner left me and my little girl. I have had to move into a smaller property and return to work. I have come to the heartbreaking decision, for the best life my dog needs rehoming. I can not give her everything she needs and that's not fair on her.

I have tried my hardest since March but money and time wise I am pushed to my limits.

I feel awful for failing her, and never ever took her on thinking I couldn't meet her needs. I have been debating it for a while, but it's not far dragging it out for her any more.

I plan on calling the local rspca when they open for advice, but wondered if any of you had wise words for me?

There are specialist rehoming charities which will be dog friendlier than the RSPCA - they would be bottom of my list. Dogs Trust are better. There is a charity called English Springer Spaniel Welfare & I would contact them too.

Hugs to you. Our beloved doggy is having to be rehomed today (keeps going for our newborn) and we're utterly devastated. So I know how gut-wrenching the decision is.

Annarose hugs to you too. It really is awful isn't it. Congratulations on your little one though. Sometimes the hardest things and the right things are the same.... Doesn't make it any easier tho.

I'd avoid the RSPCA, too. Any local rescues that could help out?

Try many tears. They are based in Wales but also have re home nationally. We have had dogs from there and they are great. I think you are doing the right thing though. Big hugs sent.

Sorry to hear this. Springer rescue would be a start. Huntaways are uncommon (though I know one well), so doubt if they have a breed rescue. Whereabouts are you, roughly?

Another lovely rescue is Black Retriever X - they do support other dogs and are very careful with their placements. Jem might be able to advise you.

She is a gorgeous dog. Far more huntaway than springer. Not sure her dad (the springer) had the strongest genes!

It will break me to see her go, she has been a wonderful support in tough times, but she deserves more. If I thought I would be more sorted in weeks rather than months I would battle on. It's one of the hardest decisions I've ever made
