Would you eat a joint of meat the dog had chewed?

Bloody dog half inched an uncooked joint of lamb, so expensive, off the kitchen worktop. Chewed it a bit before I prised it off him. Should I cut the chewed bit off and cook it? DH would be non the wiser. Or is that just too gross and should I just let buggerlugs have it (the dog).

Unless dog has rolled in fox poo and then rolled on the joint of lamb I'd cook and eat it.

Maybe give the chewed bit a rinse first.

Cooked a turkey the cat had 'caught' whilst it was defrosting on Christmas Eve... It was fine and my father is non the wiser!

If it is going to be cooked then definitely I would (lamb is too expensive to waste !).

I'd feed it to dh but I wouldn't eat it myself. But dh is happy to be licked by Eric and so would think a chewed joint wouldn't have any germs that he hasn't already had from the dog. I don't let Eric lick me and so I wouldn't eat something he'd licked.

No, to me it's not right.

Without doubt! It is a bit of dead animal. A live healthy animal giving it a quick chew will make no difference after all it is going in a hot oven.

I would not eat someone else's food (ever again) if I thought this had happened. If this happened in my house and I witnessed it with my dogs then I might consider it.

I'd eat it. Cut off the chewed bit, wash and cook.
