Recommendations for trainers who can help both dog and me?!

Have posted before about my dog, who is sometimes aggressive towards other dogs (seems marginally better since she was spayed). The problem is that I'm now absolutely terrified when other dogs approach her - not so much when their owners are nearby, but so many just let their dogs (often quite large ones) roam so far away that by the time they bound up to us they're out of hearing range of their owners.

This has happened so often that I now get really panicky about taking my dog for a walk, because I know that at some point, no matter which of the three parks near us I walk her in, there's going to be a shitty owner who lets their dog run up to us without checking first why my dog's on a lead.

I used to love taking my dog on walks - we'd go for miles at the weekend. I hate that I'm sitting here on MN procrastinating and panicking over taking dog out. Can anyone recommend a good trainer in reaching distance of East London who can not only help my dog with her aggressive behaviour, but also help me stay calm in these situations, because I'm sure I'm not helping my dog at all.

Have you tried googling apdt dog trainers in your area? That might be a good place to start
My hitch can be sharp with other hitches, it's one thing I have to watch too. With mine it's not aggression though. She's quick to react due to anxiety.

I have Owllady, in fact I have a list of possibilities that I've found on Google - my worry is that trainers charge a lot of money and I'm aware that some are charlatans (have read some horror stories on here and elsewhere!), so was just wondering whether the good people of MN could recommend any before I start calling round the list.

Is Hertfordshire too far? Steve Mann is a positive trainer who I would recommend

We used to go to John Uncle in Muswell Hill. After the training session we used to take all the dogs (often off lead) for a walk in the park. It was a really good exercise in teaching people how to feel safe with their dogs and in the company of other dogs. It was also a great opportunity to work with children and other common fears that dogs express.
