Reserved a rescue dog, now the doubts are creeping in...

Met with a dog today, she's lovely, got on well with the boys (4 and 2) so we reserved her. However, now I'm worrying if we're doing the right thing-it's so much responsibility. Is this normal when thinking of adopting a first (since I was a child) dog?

She sounds adorable. I personally think that if you have children (as I do myself) it's kinda safer getting a puppy that can be moulded round the family. I know lots of people disagree, and there are literally hundreds of rescues out there waiting for homes but I wouldn't want the risk, however negligible, to be there. Not when my children are top priority. Good luck in your decision.

I couldn't cope with a puppy and even the RSPCA people didn't recommend it. We're going to pick her up in an hour & I'm excited rather than dreading it which (hopefully) is a good sign!

Here she is:

She's terrified of one of the cats already but I hope that will sort itself out soon. She's very taken with DS2 (DS1 at school) who is already calling her 'nouk'

She's very nervy at the moment obviously but seems happy enough when she's getting attention.
