Insurance for a three legged dog

Anyone here have a three legged dog?!
We are soon to adopt a 9 month old lab cross dog. We already have pet insurance for our 3 yr old lab and wondered how different we should expect the insurance to be!!
Thanks.

It shouldn't really be different should it?
The dog lost a leg presumably due to an accident so no pre-existing condition to exclude. The only issue I could imagine is if he develops some form of arthritis or similar as a result of increased strain on his back/ opposing leg. That could be seen to be caused by the missing leg so theoretically not covered.

Thanks for your reply. I am hoping the insurance won't be too dissimilar. That's what we hope to find out, need to start investigating the insurance companies!

I have a friend with a 3-legged dog and she has not had any problems getting insurance for her. They have no idea how the leg was lost as she was a rescue dog but otherwise is fit and healthy and one of the quickest dogs I know!

Daisy, that's fantastic to know, thanks for passing that on! We are so excited about meeting him and having him!

And he's a cross so make sure you register him as such. DPup came to us as a Staffie cross and her insurance is £££s a year cheaper because of this :)

Good to know thanks Fox!
