My 10 year old lab has 2 grade 3 mast cell tumours, she has had surgery but they came back. She is now under an oncologist undergoing chemo (intravenous Vinblasten and Predislone) She was great after the first dose but has been really sick and off her food after the second. The tumours don't seem to be shrinking so my own vet suggested I ask about Masivet. the oncologist said there were other drugs we could try, I guess these are intravenous as well. The discussions on here about Masivet sound good but the price is incredible and I don't want her to go on feeling ill all the time. If we try Masivet does anyone know if she would stay on it for as long as she lives or is it like the other chemo for a limited time???? Help any advice it's so hard to know what to do for the best

I'm sorry I can't help but just didn't want to leave your post without saying how very sorry I am that you're in this horrible situation. I hope you find someone who can give you good advice re the best way forward. It's so so tough when our pets are ill. I'm thinking of you and your lab. xxxxx

Cottage I am honestly trying to be as gentle as I can be here, because I have always had Labradors and would fight to the bitter end for them, spending my last penny on them.
But.
There comes a day when you have to decide if what you are doing is for them, or for you. If she is in pain, continuing discomfort, and will not be cured by the treatment, just prolonged life, do you really want to go there?
I speak as one who has been through similar (not chemo, but life prolonging drugs), and took that decision when I realised that my old girl had no joy in her life left. She seems content, but was losing control of her bodily functions which distressed her greatly.

I can't answer your specific question I am afraid, and really don't want to hurt you, but there is a third option here, and it may be the kindest one.

Take care, and the greatest of luck with whatever you decide to do.
