How to sell a border collie puppy?

Ok my friend bought this puppy a week ago as her young teenage friends really wanted one. ( long story)However as cute as it is, they are not really going to be able to give it the exercise and stimulation it will need and she has decided it would be best for them and the puppy for it to go to a home that can better meet its needs. It's 9 weeks old. Where do you think would be a good place to sell it?

No, not been there this week in person, but I saw Sarah on Tuesday when (at the risk of outing myself) I handed over a dog that I collected for them and had in foster, and I also spoke to Sarah this morning.

I also know that they have deliberately reduced kennel space for the reasons you describe.

I suspect that we may be on the same side, Nuttymuttie. :)

Sorry, saw Sarah on Wednesday, not Tuesday. Am loosing track of the days!

I second that there is no reason to avoid Wiccaweys. The RSPCA was on their side and was there to help. No charges were brought and all the dogs were returned. I think they are fantastic and supportive. If only we'd had that when we adopted one of our first unwanted dogs.

Definitely on the same side - I had just spoken to Sarah before I posted and she had said they were having a very busy week with intakes. Hence not to contact them at the moment.

I am not connected at all with the "other lot"

:)
I think it's been dreadful :(

OP- If you need help placing the puppy contact either me or Nuttimuttie.

Wiccaweys are now aware of this thread and have offered to help if your friend is backed into a corner with the pup.

Wow thanks for all your help! So my friend did have quite a lot if interest in her puppy but her partner persuaded her to give the dog ( or rather her teenage kids ) another chance so she's giving them 10 days to prove their commitment to looking after it - walking it every morning and evening. She doesn't want to be the one to break their hearts by taking the puppy away from them. So, we will see what happens.... Thanks all for your help. Smile

Might be worth suggesting to your friend that she looks at good training classes. It shouldn't be out being walked until it has received a full course of vaccinations, and then it should be on semi limited exercise (short walks) as it is only young.

Might also be worth starting some clicker training with it. Collies need brain work as well as exercise, otherwise they get bored and make their own mischief.

As i said, if your friend "does" want to get rid of the pup, persuade her not to sell it and contact either me or Nuttimuttiewho can channel it safely into rescue.

Collie are companion dogs, yes they need excercise and brain work but mostly they need company.

Is your friend home in the day? How long is the pup left?
