My 12 year old border collie cross has had a few poo problems the past month or so and it's getting worse, I was wondering if one of you knowledgeable people could shed some light?

She's always been fine with house training, never had a problem since she was a puppy. But four times in the past month she's been incontinent with poo (never wee) in the house. Their's never an obvious reason, once was when I went on the school run (she'd been in the garden just an hour previously), once was right after a walk, and twice after she'd been let out last thing at night.

She's also developed a habit of squatting a lot when out for a walk. I've just come back from our usual route and honestly she must've squatted the whole way round. The thing is, she had a perfectly normal, formed poo right at the beginning of the walk like she always does, so I don't think she's constipated.

My instincts are telling me that it's more her behaviour that's off, rather than anything physical (although happy to accept suggestions otherwise) It's just that she's always been a reasonably mellow dog, especially as she's got older. But in the past year or so, she gets herself worked up over things. She gets in a state if I take her in the car (she used to LOVE the car) She paces around and hates it if either I or DH are out of sight, she gets underfoot very easily, I'm fairly sure she's loosing her peripheral vision, and she's 'lost' me on the field a few times, where I've been very near her and she's got herself all anxious and upset because she can't find me, despite me being in plain sight and calling for her Sad

I don't know if the two issues are related or not but I feel like she's so anxious all the time, can dogs even get dementia?

I'd be really grateful if anyone had any suggestions for me?
