Big dog weeing everywhere since the pup has arrived... Help!

Big dog is 6, has a phenomenal bladder and has been known to choose not to wee for up to 24 hours before because she doesn't like the rain, can't find a suitable blade of grass etc. Pup is now 15 weeks old and hasn't had an accident in the house for nearly 2 weeks. Big dog, however, has just done a huge wee on the floor, as she also did yesterday twice, just a couple of minutes after being let outside and not bothering to go. This has been an almost daily occurrence for the last 7 weeks since the pup arrived and it's starting to get me down, as it's a huge amount and is a right pain to clean up.

I appreciate she's probably feeling a bit pushed out and is doing it in protest, but she seems to have accepted the pup and happily plays with him, cuddles up with him etc., so I just don't understand what's going on. I mentioned it to the vets a couple of weeks ago, when she was there for something else, and he said there doesn't appear to be anything physically wrong with her,so she's probably just being bloody minded (his words, not mine!).

Any tips on how I can stop this? She gets let out regularly, but never wees as we haven't got grass and she'll only go on grass, and then only if she feels like it! She's always been an awkward bugger Grin

We had a couple accidents when pup came. It is a massive adjustment for them even if they get on okay with pup. So it could just be a bit of stress or being unsettled. Also, is she playing more? Playing stimulates the need to go so I had to put them both out after a play session.

You need to go back to basics. Take out to where she will go every hour or two and not go back in until she's done. Praise her for going outside. She should soon get back in the habit of holding.

Yes she's playing more, but it's never just after playing that she wees. This morning was while pup was in his crate having breakfast and she was eating in the kitchen, yesterday was when I'd popped out for 10 minutes to the shop, and they'd been for a walk directly before I went. I'm just finding it frustrating as I was expecting the puppy to be weeing everywhere not the 6 year old!
