We are going to the Gower peninsular next weekend and taking dpup (just turned 1) on his first holiday

We are staying in a cottage where dogs are welcome and there are plenty of dog-friendly beaches around

I have a soft crate to take with us as his wire one is too big to move, he will be in a harness and we've got a cool mat for the car. We've also got a longline for walks in unfamiliar places where there might be sheep, travel water bottles and bowl, I've made sure we've got enough food, I've got the number for the local vet in case of emergencies, I'm getting tick stuff from the vet before we go

What am I missing? What else do I need to sort and if anyone has any handy tips that would be great (I'm probably overthinking this ...Blush)

gorgeous pic of your dad, Scuttle. I'm going to bookmark these pages so I can find all your info again when I plan a holiday in the Gower Peninsula!

My son went there with a few friends after his final uni exams, camping for a couple of days - he said it was very beautiful.

we just came back from UK hols with our two dogs. we found a collapsible baby gate so useful to stop them getting upstairs, keep in kitchen or utility overnight and generally move around as we needed. bought it from Kiddicare and collapses quite small so not too bulky. tupperware bowl was also useful for putting water in from a bottle while out and about and cheap so if u lose it it's not the end of the world. Oh and ear plugs so u can ignore the barking at the seagulls at 5am!! Have fun!

Fan, we've been to Reighton Sands lots of times as for about 13 years Filey was the only place considered acceptable as a holiday to ds (autism). It is a lovely beach as is Hunmanby Gap. We think best fish and chips are from the Brown Room in Filey and you get a great breakfast at the Clock Cafe in Filey too. If you're in the car the Yorkshire Moors Railway is a nice day out going from Goathland to Pickering too.

We have really enjoyed it Insanity. It is our nearest coastal region so know the general area well but it was our first trip to Reighton. We have done the NYMR a few times as ds was a huge train fan.

Hope everyone has good trips.

We're back and dpup thoroughly enjoyed his first holiday Grin

He took everything in his stride - it helps that the Gower is very dog-friendly - lots of fab beaches, lovely walks and even a couple of restaurants which were happy to have dogs inside

He's been v happy just to slot back into his normal routine - he really is a very chilled puppy :)

Oh, and it seems that drinking sea water is something dogs only do once Wink
