Dogs going in kennels next week...

Should I send a quick email to let the kennels know how they behave/eat/bad habits etc.

When I booked them in it was 11 months ago, DH thinks I'm being precious as I've already went over everything. I'm not the one dropping them off as I'll cry like a baby and I'm pretty sure my MIL will forget what I tell her to tell the kennels.

My pup went into kennels for the first time a couple of weekends ago. I wasn't able to take the dogs to be dropped off, so wrote a note for the kennel hands including everything about diet etc. They went through the note with dh and it was up on the kennel kitchen/office board when we went to pick them up, as well as having a couple of the points added to the card on their kennel door to remind all the kennel hands. (My two can't be fed together and couldn't have balls to play with when left alone.)

He was absolutely fine and although over the moon to see us when we collected him, was clearly very fond of the head kennel hand and seemed really relaxed.

If you are really worried, give them a call and talk them through it, they will be used to anxious owners of first timers and will want to get things right for your dog.

I think I'll give a note instead then like you say it can be pinned up if needed.

One dog is fine but I have one that doesn't take to strangers well Hmm so she's the worry for me but I'm sure she's not the only dog like that. The one that doesn't like strangers has been in before and came round to one member of staff so I'm hoping it's the same this time round ......and at least they have each other.

My pup is fearful of other dogs and I was so worried about him being surrounded by them all weekend, but he was fine.

I used to have a people/fear-aggressive large breed and he was fine in kennels, having developed a bond with one or two of the kennel hands.

I took my lad for a visit first to introduce him to the environment and staff. Would you have time to do that? Then you can then have a chat about special requirements at the same time. It really put my mind at rest when we took our lad for his visit. Bear in mind if you do they will want to see his vaccination records before they'll allow him on the premises though.
