She will be fine in kennels won't she?

I am trialling my 2 year old lab for an overnight in kennels on Saturday. I need her to go in for a few nights at the end of June so my parents, who normally have her, can come to DD1's graduation with us.

I feel really strange about putting her in kennels as she has always stayed with family. The lady is lovely, and it is a small, new kennels and she loves other dogs/people.

I know she will be fine but she is my baby. what a wuss i am

Perhaps our paths have crossed then. I left school in 1980. I am age 51 ( how did I get to be so old!).

Oh I am miles younger than you...

... I am only 50 and left school in 1982!

Haha. Our paths must have crossed somewhere at some point. We were probably in the same pub at the same time in 1983 or something!

Probably!

So, the question is, if I see an approximately 50 year old woman walking a yellow lab at a local beach or forest would I have the nerve to ask if they are a "little white bag"?

littlewhitebag · 15/05/2014 19:49

Well if the 50 (ish) year old woman is slightly plump and has a blonde bob you might be safe.

If she is yelling "Sadie, Sadie, come" as her dog gallops into the distance ignoring her you will be spot on! Grin

OK, OK - I'll shut up now!

Just as well she is the OP!

I put my 2 dogs in for 5 days. The one I have had for 10 yrs from a pup had a blast. The other from the pound refused to eat and when he came home started urinating all over the house after it took months sorting out his separation anxiety and him stopping doing it for a year.

littlewhitebag · 15/05/2014 20:35

Yeah. It's my thread. I can do what i like. Wink

I have dropped her off and she seemed very keen to go and play with the other dogs.

The kennel owner was very lovely and is clearly a doggy person through and through. She says she will text me later to tell me how she has settled. Eek.

The house seems strangely quiet without her. Sad

I'm sure she'll be fine, especially if she went off happily and has other dogs to play with.

I hate it when my dogs aren't home too. It's amazing how they fill a house, even when they're in a different room to you.

She is back and she is fine!

She really seemed to enjoy the kennels. We got an enthusiastic welcome but she looked relaxed and not at all stressed.

Last night the kennel owner text me a photo of her playing in the paddock with another lab and she looked joyous. She also provided me with an update on how she had settled.

I am now confident leaving her there so i have booked a 2 night stay for my DD1's graduation.

That's fab news.

PurpleFrog · 18/05/2014 15:43

That sounds great. Could you PM me the name of the kennels, please? I had a google but couldn't find anything that fitted your description.

Maybe we'll also have a trial run this summer and go and visit the pandas...

littlewhitebag · 18/05/2014 15:56

Hi Purplefrog Have PM'd you the details.

So pleased it went well. It's such a load off your mind when you know they're happy while you're away.

PurpleFrog · 18/05/2014 16:22

And I have replied! Grin
